I had my LapBand revision on March 2nd with Dr. Acosta.  He was able to fix my slipped band.  I just want to say that his entire staff and Dr. Acosta are the absolute best!!  I them!!!

This surgery was much less painful than my first one with Dr. Frezza.

Del Sol hosptial was very nice and the staff there was wonderful, too!  Now, on to lose the rest of this weight!!

I am not sure if he is taking new patients, but I see Dr. John Liljestrand.  He is WONDERFUL and encouraged weight loss surgery for me!

Topic: New and have questions
I am wanting to have weight loss surgery but every PCP has turned their noses up at me and says to "eat less, exercise more."  It's gotten to the point where I am too scared to even ask for this help.  I'm at a phase now that I am frightened to even go to a PCP for the same answer.  PCP's have treated me like I am some junkie looking for a fix.  Or worse yet, a lazy person looking for that magic cure.  Some doctors are sympathetic to my, and some get very annoyed at me.  Can someone please recommend a good PCP who will be willing to take me seriously and see that I am at a point in my life where there are no other options?  I am on Pres. Salud.  Please, any and all recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

oh wow!!  I am glad that you got your approval so easily!  Dr. Acosta didn't feel that insurance would approve me getting a revision to RNY because I was no longer morbidly obese.  I am still obese though....LOL  I hate BMI charts.  I got down to 155 lbs but I am back up to 180.  I am thankful that he was able to fix my band if I wasn't able to get RNY.  I definitely know I need a tool to help me out, without a doubt!!

I am happy for you and yes, keep in touch!

The insurance company was great!  The medical director went back to my original weight.  I have a case manager who is fantastic!  She guided me through the process with ease!  Of course I had to see endocrinology, psych and be followed monthly by my pcp.  I also have a great PCP.  Her name is Angela Sanchez and she is with Southwest Medical at the Northside Presbyterian building off of Osuna.

I have actually gained 23 poinds back. I am still obese. Yuk- I hate that word. lol.  I got down to size 10 pants and now I am back up to 14's. :-( I am still not a diabetic again but my hgb a1c was starting to go up.  Now I am starting to have dizzyness.  Even at night when I turn from side to side I get dizzy.  I open my eyes and the room is still moving around.  It's freaky. I will have to see my PCP about that.  I must have something going on with my inner ear. It's just been happening for the last 2 weeks or so.  Maybe it's stress related. lol

Have a great weekend!  I will keep in touch!

I knew of another lady who had surgery with Frezza about 6 months before me, and he didn't put the band around her stomach either!!  It was just floating right beside her stomach!  Another girl who had surgery not long after us and she has had a lot of problems, so I suspect her band is slipped too....hmmmmm out of all of the people that I have known to have surgery with him, 100% of them have had problems!!  I certainly hope he did lose his license!!  It's pathetic!!

Well, your surgery is going to be a bit more severe than a band repositioning.  ha ha So, I am sure it won't be easy, but I hope it is for you!!  Insurance didn't give you any trouble since you are no longer morbidly obese?

I am happy to hear it's not as bad the second time around. I hope that's the way it is for me but I kind of think it will be just as bad because it's a different surgery altogether. I hope your nausea and gas goes away quickly.  When can you resume exercising? Is it pretty easy this time being on liquids?

I am here in Lubbock. Tomorrow is pre-op day.  Just routine lab. cxr, gallbladder us, visit with admission nurse, anesthesia and my doctor. It will be a long day including the drive home.  I brought my homework to study while I wait. lol

Thank goodness for lap tops, the internet, Wi-fi and hotels that have it!  lol

I can't understand how the nurses in the OR didn't do anything about Dr. Freeza not putting in the band on that ladys stomach They were probably afraid of loosing their jobs if they spoke up.  Did he just put it on the wrong place or not put it at all? That's a major incident report.  You'd think  she would be able to file a law suite against the hospital.  Freeza skipped the country so can't do anything to the creep. I wonder if he lost his license to practice in this country?  He needs to quit doing surgery and hurting people.

Take care and keep up the fantastic road you are on!
