Topic: RE: Any surgeons in Albuquerque?
Richard,
I really don't know.
The information that I found regarding Dr. B was through the American Society for Baratric Surgery. He is a member and it lists his phone number.
He has probably only been in New Mexico for a few months. He didn't close his practice here until Dec. 31. I heard through the grapevine that he was in Albuquerque, checked the ASBS web site and sure enough he is.

Is Dr Bosquez working at the ER at Presbyterian Hospital on Central and I-25. This dr. is not registered with NM showing that he is doing Bariatric Surgery here in NM.
Topic: RE: SO close but soo far... can anyone throw me a bone here???
Thats part of the hold up for me. I have a BMI of 37.5, but have borderline diabetes and gallbladder. But now Im being sent for a Sleep Apnea test since my scoring was high.
Has any gotten the surgery with less than 40? And only one co-morbidity? Funny Triwest already Ok'd me... but the surgeon is the one who wants the NIH standard. Is this normal for a doctor to do this after your approved???

Can you share his website info? It'd be really nice to have a backup dr here instead of travelling for 9 hours, especially with some of the complications I've had, which were scary.
Thanks!

Anne,
You have one of the most wonderful surgeons in the nation in Albuquerque, his name is Dr. Matt Bosquez, he has recently relocated from Oklahoma. He did my surgery almost two years ago, and he is awesome. You can check him out through this web site.
He dots every i and crosses every t, he does every thing humanly possible to see to it that his patients have a safe surgery.
Good Luck,
Janna

Nope, as far as I know, there is not anyone in NM. There are drs in El Paso (rny), Frezza is Lubbock (Lap band and lap RNY), Blackstone in Scottsdale, and some in Colorado.
Good luck in your search for your mom

Topic: RE: Support Group
I'm so glad I read this. Thanks for posting the meeting info - I'm going to pass it on to my mom who lives in ABQ.
Since I had my surgery 2 years ago she has been considering having it done also. But she's been frustrated in finding a surgeon.
It would be good for her to meet with your group!
Thanks again!
Topic: Any surgeons in Albuquerque?
Hi, looking for info for my mom! Need names/numbers of surgeons in Albuquerque that are currently doing bariatric surgery. Seems some of the names in the database on this site either are no longer in NM or don't do the surgery anymore.
Any help greatly appreciated!

I no longer have United Healthcare Insurance, but I can tell you from experience with BCBS that you need to be sure and document ever little rash, bump, ache, etc. And, by documenting I mean a visit to the doctor. After having lost 132 pounds I desperately needed a tummy tuck, breast lift and thigh lift, but because I did not have any of the mentioned symptoms the insurance denied my claim and said that the ps was strictly for cosmetic. I guess I should be thankful that I didn't have any of the symptoms, but then again in order for me to have the ps, I had to borrow the money. I had the tummy tuck and thigh lift done one year ago and once I have it paid in full, I plan on having a breast lift done.
Good luck with you wls.
