Welcome to the loser's bench!  :o)  My surgery was with Dr. Lara.  I also met Dr. Acosta.  They are both just great!  I will be 1 year out on March 18 and have never felt so good!  What a difference in my life!  I call Dr. Lara my hero.  He saved my life.  ;o)

I'm not sure what kind of support you are getting, but we have a great support group in Albuquerque. We meet the 1st and 3rd Wed of each month at Grace Church at 6:30 p.m.  Great group of people!

I'm sure you will do fantastic!

Mary

He just manipulated all of us in to believing he knew what he was doing.  It worked unfortunately.  We have learned and we have moved on to better things!

Yes, you are luck but also smart and resourceful!!  ha ha
I had Diabetes too, and Frezza told me that I couldn't have the sleeve because Presbyterian would never pay for it.  He is a piece of work!!

I was lucky to have a case manager who was in constant touch with the health plans medical director. She guided me through the process and I followed her instructions to the "T". (I would of rather had the band instead of the sleeve the first time around but I remember Freeza telling me I couldn't because I was a diabetic.  He was such a liar).

I was able to let Dr. Syn know their thoughts and that having an RYN wasn't out of the question as long as he felt it was necessary. In the end everything worked out.

Yes, I need the tool to keep the weight off also.  With my stomach back to normal size now it's just so easy to give up but thank goodness I didn't.  I want to be healthy.  God knows I am to old to be sexy!  lol

I am so happy to been directed to Dr. Syn and I am thankful he has so much experience in revisions and accepted me as his patients. He is the best revision doctor in the nation!

I will talk with you soon!

Topic: Surgery this Thursday
All my pre-op lab etc. are done and I am ready to go!  Surgery is this coming Thursday.  Looks like I will be having my Gallbladder taken out and a h-hernia repair at the same time.  I didn't realize the pain I was having was from the gallbladder.  I thought I was just twisting wrong or something and it was muscle pain. Oh well good thing a Gallbladder US was done.  I am also lucky that my doctor is one of the top doctors in the whole country for doing revisions!  I am truly blessed this time around!

Another great PCP to have is Dr. Angela Sanchez with Southwest medical Associates.  She is located at the Northside Presbyterian building.  She is great and an advocate for weight loss surgery.  She helps her patients with the whole process.

Hello,

Not sure if you got the bad news yet but as of March 15 Pres Salud is no longer going to cover bariatric surgery. Its sucks because so many people are getting screwed. It's my understanding that no matter where you were at in the process if you could not get the surgery done before March 15th they were not going to cover it. At the last support group this past Wed. one of the ladies said it is all the medicaids in NM that were not going to continue to cover it. I have Pres Salud and my surgery was set for the 9th so my client coordinator said that I just made it. I know that for one of the other posters on this site he was set for the 23rd and they moved it up for him to the 10 to get it to work. You may want to call Del Sol or go to one of the seminars to see if there are any exceptions to this, they can also help you find a pcp that will support your decision with the surgery. Sorry to be the one with the bad news.
