Topic: Question about protein
I keep meaning to ask this at the meetings but forgot every blessed time tonight's meeting will probably be no exception) so I thought that I'd throw it out here on the board. If they can put all different nutritional supplements, vitamin and otherwise, into capsules, then why can't they put protein into capsules? I sm struggling to get my daily protein in and can't seem to stomach any of the liquid supplements or even the powdered ones. Any answers/suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Topic: RE: IBS and WLS ?
I had Dr. Eldo Frezza at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. A lot of his patients come from Albuquerque. You might give him a try. How far away are you from there? Dr. Frezza is good. I trust him. Good Luck on your journey! -Val Cline
Topic: RE: I'M APPROVED! NOW WHAT?
There is an awesome support group in Clovis. I used to live there, now I live in Alamogordo, which has no support group. They meet the second Thursday of the month at the Java Loft at about 6 or 6:30 pm. They are having a meeting this Saturday (4/22) at 6:00 at the Java Loft. I am visiting them. I am having my gall bladder out Monday (4/24). Most of the girls had Dr. Frezza. I did as well. My surgery was 11/14/05. You should stop by if you can make it. Good luck and welcome aboard!-Val Cline
Topic: RE: ANYONE IN NEW MEXICO?
Hi Suzanne -
There are no bariatric surgeons currently working in New Mexico. I went through the program at Scottsdale (Dr. Blackstone) and they were wonderful. But, you are correct. It is expensive for all the travel.
Your best bet would probably be Dr. Freeza in Lubbock or the El Paso doctors. You can find out about the El Paso docs by selecting Resources in the yellow line at the top of the screen, selecting the state you are interested in, and then selecting the heading Bariatric Surgeons.
Wish I could help you with good news about New Mexico, but we are still in the dark ages here.
Good luck and be good to yourself.

Topic: 4/18 Site Updates
Be advised that tonight (4/18) between 8-9 PST the site will be down for forum updates. It should not be longer than an hour, but might take more time. This is to help in the upgrades. Thanks for your understanding in making these critical changes.

Topic: ANYONE IN NEW MEXICO?
I need to know if anyone in New Mexico does gastric bypass surgery. I found names of docs online (Fry, Terry, Kgridebaugh, Demarest, Perera) but do not know if they are still practicing here.
I attended a presentation in Albuquerque a week ago. I am sure the program in Scottsdale is nice, but I cannot afford the 'extras' involved. I have been told my insurance will pay for surgery, but it will not pay for hotels, airfare, 'patient packs', and other such nonsense. I need a doc here in NM that I can drive to. I heard there was one in Las Cruces, but can't seem to locate him. El Paso would be easier for me than AZ, since I have family in Las Cruces.
Please, if you can give me info, I would be so very happy!

Topic: **NEW** OH BETA Site
Hi Everyone
Over the weekend Obesityhelp had an Easter egg hunt. Those who missed it or never did find the egg, I'm going to tell you what it led to. We have been working hard to bring a more feature-rich experience to all our dedicated members and are pleased to announce that the BETA version is publicly available for you to browse and use! Keep in mind the site is not 100% complete, which means we are still adding and changing things. This rollout focuses around implementing a new navigation, customizable homepage, bookmarks and a few other neat items that we know you will enjoy; however, our job is not complete. We are also in the process of adding more requested features to the site including: a new profile system, blogs, photo albums, private messaging, and much, much more. Stay tuned for more updates on these specific items.
In the next few days there will be some changes to the message boards. We will be converting the boards to our new system, which you can see in action now in the Emotional Eating and Magazine forum. We are going to start with the main message board and work our way through all the boards. Some features in the new boards include: the ability to edit your own posts, delete a post, have signature lines, and font selections.
Check out the BETA site here:

We are anticipating the full launch of the site sometime next week, so one day you will come to the site and it's going to be totally different, so make sure you check out the beta site and familiarize yourself with it now :jump:
Moving forward to better things!
