Topic: RE: Rio Rancho/Albuquerque Dr Recommendation
I am actually in Cortez Colorado, but am only a few miles from NM border, I checked in December of 2009 and was not able to find anyone in new mexico at all. I ended up going to Denver and since its like a 8 hour drive, will end up flying there for my post ops. The only ones not in metro denver are Grand junction that I know of.  Good luck, Rio Rancho is awesome, my sis lives there and I love to visit that area.

I have BC/BS of NM...  took a bit of battle but they did approve my vertical sleeve surgery, however (and that's a big however), that was two years ago and with the economy problems and such I'm sure they have tightened their authorizations.  Good luck and don't give up!

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Failure is only a fact when you give up. Everyone gets knocked down, the question is: Will you get back up?

I also heard that Medicaid is no longer covering weight loss surgery in New Mexico, due to the budget crisis.

I had United Health Care.  And if I understood what I heard recently, Medicaid no longer covers bariatric surgery in NM.

Welcome to ABQ! We transplanted here from California nearly 5 years ago and I really like this city. I had a RNY about 2-1/2 years ago. I started attending the support group that was mentioned here that's held at the church on San Antonio. I had my surgery done in Houston, TX. Again, welcome to NM and write when you can. Kelly
