Just had my lapascropic rny on 11/29/05!
Hello all!
I just had my surgery in Scottsdale, Az with Dr. Robin Blackstone and other than feeling that I wa**** in the stomach with a bat for a few hours and then run over by a herd of stampeding cows I feel fine!
Really though, the surgery went well, the pain was minimal (as minimal as can be excpected with this type of surgery) and I am now "eating" jello and clear broth until my meeting with the dr on 12/6/05 for final review and clearance to head back to Albuquerque.
My question is whether there are any wl support groups that meet in Albuquerque in the evenings. Can some one help with this info? Thanks!
Hello, Darleen, and congratulations! I hope this message finds you still doing well and on your way home!
Yes, there is a WLS Support Group. It meets the first and third wednesdays of every month from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. We have anywhere from 10 - 30 people show up, and I find it really helpful. There are pre and post-op folks there, and all of them have great insights. I've also heard rumors there might be a support group just for Dr. Blackstone's patients beginning, but I won't swear to that.
The location for the meetings is the Presbyterian Medical Center just off the Pan American Freeway at Harper. It's a 2 story building with an urgent care at ground level, which is the top floor. We meet in the basement, level 1 in a conference room there. It's to your left when you get off the elevator.
We have a meeting tomorrow night on 12/7, so if you get this and feel like joining us, please do. Otherwise, as far as I know, we will be meeting again on 12/21.
Again, congrats, and hope to see you soon!
Kelly

I look forward to the 12/21 meetng and possibly seeing you there.
