Looking for good surgeon in NM

Hi all!! I am in CA and had a lap RNY on 6-9-05. My Mom is in NM and is looking into having the same surgery. Anyone have any suggestions on a good surgeon? She is on Medicare/Medicaid. Thanks, Jaymiem

Where in NM does your Mother live? I had a very good surgeon in Lubbock Texas. Dr. David Syn. I had RNY August 04 and have lost 110 pounds. I am doing great, and feeling wonderful. Dr. Eldo Freeza is also in Lubbock and is also very good. They are about the closest doctors, as New Mexico does not have a program. Dr. Daniel Igwe, in Las Vegas, NM is trying to get approval to do bariatric surgery in Las Vegas....he has a waiting list and I don't know how close he is to getting approval. He studied with Dr. Fobi in California. Good Luck to you. Beckey

Hi Becky, I am Jaymie's mom in NM. I live in Ruidoso. My Doc wanted to send me to Dr Frye in Alb, but I checked him out and he's been sued etc. Didn't want him. My Dr tried to get an appt w/ Dr Frye but he is in Chicago now, yay. The next Dr is can you believe it? Dr Syn in Lubbock. I have an appt for Feb 3 that I think I might have to cancel because my car needs work on the pump and I might not be able make that appt. I'm going to call and see if there is some kind of help for getting there. Anyway that's what is going on with me. Sorry I took so long to get back to you, I put my computer in the shop on Dec 12 and just got it back this week. Loni

Have you looked into the Del Sol Bariatric Center in El Paso? I believe they accept medicaid and it would be alot closer than Lubbock. Just a thought.
