Help!!! My Doctor thinks that WLS is a bunch of bologna!!! What is the best way to get this procedure done. Do I change Dr's (PCP)? or do I go directly to the WLS Doctor. Any one else have this happen to them!!! Anyone deal with BCBS/TN? Thanks!! And Bless the people affected by Katrina!!!

Well you dont need your PCP to go see the WLS surgeron, but you do need one that can follow you post op. Is your doc the only one in the office our can you see someone else in clinic without having to transfer to a different PCP. Good luck. Claudia

I would say look for another doctor---or try to educate the one you have if you want to stay there. If you want to go straight to a WLS doctor and have your insurance pay for it, then you need to check to see if your insurance requires a referral or not. I actually called the surgeon I knew would be covered by my insurance and asked them for some names of PCPs that were WLS friendly in my area. You might want to get on the Tenn (?) board and insurance board to see how it is to deal with BCBS/Tn Good luck! AnnMarie
