Looking into moving to NM
I am looking into moving to New Mexico. I have been reading a lot about NM and am wanting to move there. I would rather not move to big populated cities but rural area that I could have land and a home and be close enough to the county seat as I work for the county here in California.
Could you tell me what sort of crops you grow there, what the areas are like. I am bi-lingual and work in Medical billing and secretarial.
Thank you for your help in advance.

Hi, Erin,
Well, NM is a big state, and probably the biggest crop is the Chile Pepper. I live in Albuquerque, which is the largest city - about 500,000 people spread out over a 20mile by 20 mile area - give or take! There are also cattle ranchers, ostrich and alpaca and llama ranchers, but I guess you could also grow almost anything that wants a lot of sun. Even in the Abq area you could buy a few acres in a rural area out of town.
I transplanted here 6 years ago from NJ, so I still have a lot of looking around to do.

Hope to get to meet you soon!
By the way, you've done very well since your surgery!

Hi Erin,
I have lived in NM for much of my life....every time I leave something draws me back. I live in Farmington, NM which is much smaller than Albuquerque but still boasts 2 Walmarts and most anything else you could ask for. The county seat is Aztec which is 7 miles away and situated in a very nice little community. We are in the NW corner of NM if you want to look at a map. If you have questions I'll be happy to give you my email addy and help you in any way.
