Dr Igwe
In response to the question if Dr Igwe could come to UNM if he is not a Dr there..... we are an independent support group of bariatric patients. Of course we all think "our" Doctor is the best :0). But, in reality the group is very diverse group and we get along well. Some have had surgery in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and New Mexico.
I think all of the views allow us be exposed to different ideas, and settle on a plan of action that works for us.
When I called Dr Igwe's background is bariatric surgery and a coroporation that is based in Tennessee is opening a new hospital in Las Vegas, NM. They further explained that for right now the corporate office was focusing on getting the hospital open, then they would consider if the hospital would offer bariatric surgery.
Dr Igwe called me Thursday and I explained to him that we had 30 - 40 people that meet two times a week in a room off the cafeteria at UNM Hospital, and that a dozen or so are in the process of finding a Doctor and getting insurance approval. I offered him the first or the third Wednesday of June. He said he would check the schedule and get back to me. Jan
Thank you for the information about your support group. I live in Clovis, and have family in Albuquerque, so going to Albuquerque for support group meetings would be great.
I have been in contact with Dr. Igwe's office and have talked to him personally. He is in a 'waiting' for approval mode, and had made a list. I have gotten on his list and am just waiting..........waiting...........waiting...
He is wonderful about calling back isn't HE? I was very impressed.
