looking for assistance
Hi everyone!
I read the posts everyday and this is a great bunch of people. I just don't talk alot, unless I have an issue or feel I can reply due to my own experience. I have a friend that is just miserable, she is overweight and like all of us is unable to gain any success with traditional dieting. Her big dilemma right now is that although she has a good job, it does not come with benefits. Now I was wondering if anyone has tried to go through the medicaid route? If so I would love to hear from you or if you would know how to direct me. In case you are interested, my history is that I am now a little over 4 months post op and I am down 100pds and heads are finally turning, my self esteem has doubled and my self confidence has gained strength, I have 60 more pds to go and am now at the hard part. I did go and hire a personal trainer, I can afford him now that I am not eating for 3 anymore. The exercising and weightlifting is helping keep my skin from sagging. Happy Easter all and have a joyful day.

Hi, Tiffany,
I just couldn't bare to see your message with no responses!
I really don't know about M'caid, but if it's Pres Salud, she should have a lot of the benefits of the Pres insurance. Your friend should call her Customer Service dept tomorrow.
Congratulations on your loss!! Keep up the good work! Hopefully I'll be getting the ball rolling towards surgery within the next week or two. I'm so happy for your success!!!
Hope this is a Happy and Blessed Easter for you and yours.

All you or your friend need to do is look at the main website. You can see who each insurance carrier is. Medicaid has paid for a number of WLS, even here in New Mexico. Just keep in mind, that, unless there has been a change, it is only covered at UNM and that may mean a very long wait. However, hope is hope and that can carry a person a long way. She just needs to step up to the plate and get going on the journey.
But yes, Medicaid does cover it. Again, if she does her homework, as in reading and/or contacting other Medicaid patients, it will make like easier for her as she goes along.
If I can answer further questions regarding Medicaid, give a holler.
