Surprise or Not?

Hi, my husband is currently in Iraq and wont be bac****il the beginning of September. I was wondering if I should tell him that I am having the surgery. I originally wasn't going to and surprise him when he gets home. He knows that I am interested in the surgery, but when he left my insurance hadn't had a Bariatric Doctor yet. Since he has left I have seen Dr. Frezza in Lubbock TX and they gave me a pre-op date of August 10. At time of surgery my mom and dad will be coming out to stay with me and hlep me out so I am not worried about that. What is going through my mind right now is what if something happens to me and my husband doesn't know what is going on. What if I die and he is not here. What if, what if, what if. On the other hand I dont want to tell him, because I dont want him to worry about me and end up getting shot over there because he was thinking about me and not his job. What do you all think about me keeping it a secret till he comes home. Thanks and God Bless Debbie Update: Ok I posted this on the main and didnt get a lot of responses, but this is what I did. I sent an email to my husband and told him only a little bit. I told him that the family doc called and said they now have a Bariatric doctor and wanted to know if I wanted a referral. I told him I was going to take the referral. We'll what happens next. I will keep you updated.

Hi, Debbie, That's a hard one. I think your gut feeling to not tell him exactly when is a good one, for all the reasons you stated. Good luck in making your decision. Jean
