What about Sugar Alcohols?
Hi, Debbie,
Sugar Alcohols are things like Sorbital, Xylitol and Maltitol that DO have carbohydrates in them.
They are considered nutritive sweetners, just like sugar. I teach Diabetes Education, and this is a big scam that food processors are using to make us think that an item is "Sugar Free".
It still will raise blood sugar, is a carbohydrate, and if you eat enough of it it causes gas, bloating and diarrhea.
Splenda is about the best for someone who can't take Aspartame.
Hope that helps!
Jean
