Hello gang! I am back... had my surgery 2/10 in Lubbock, TX. so... a little over a week ago. I was thinking about going to the meeting tonight but have decided against it as I am still pretty weak and walking to my mailbox is about all the energy I can muster and then going and sitting in a chair for an hour or two doesn't sound pleasant at all.... but I will go to the next one. Curiously enough..... while I was gone I got a voice mail from UNM calling me to tell me they have a spot for me. I don't know if that means in a few weeks, few months or if it would be open or lap (i don't qualify for lap according to Dr. Terry's standards due to a c-section). Anyways... i thought that was kind of odd since you all had said Dr. Fry wasn't taking any more patients. According to my cruddy home scale, I have lost 14 lbs in 8 days... of course I won't consider anything official until I am weighed in a doctors office. Hope everyone is doing well! Chris

Hello Christine. I'm glad to hear you are doing good. I am still in the "looking into surgery" stages and saw that you went to Dr. Hall in Lubbock. He is the one that I have been thinking about for the last 2 months since he is closer to me (I live in Hobbs, NM) and his record seems to be pretty good. Please let me know how you liked him and his staff and did you have it at his clinic or at Covenent Hospital? Take care and hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hello Donna! I had the surgery at Highland Medical Center which is right next door to his office. He is a wonderful doctor, very patient, goes over everything with you in the consult taking his time and giving you the time to comprehend everything. His staff is great as well... not only does Dr. Hall come and visit you in the hospital every day, someone from his staff does as well. The Highland Medical Center is the littlest hospital in town and they seem to deliver babies there as well (2nd floor). I was the only one having the surgery when I was there... so there were a few other women on my floor (3rd floor) and they were older and were there for various things. Dr. Hall has been done over 5,000 of these surgeries and he only does them open. He explains why in the consult, but he believe that more complications arise from the lap. He also said he only lost 2 patients to the surgery... and not during the surgery itself. 1 patient was going along doing good and didn't be careful about traveling just a few months out and developed a blood clot, and the other something happened with the staples inside (he said that since then he has gotten a different brand of staple gun). My hubby is going in to have it done on March 26th by Dr. Hall too. Thanks for the response and glad to hear you are looking into it and not just jumping... that's what I did. Chris
