i've been talking to hospitals in NM and TX of the drs in NM only one is taking new patients but does only Lap and i'm too big for that, the TX hospital told me medicaid will NOT pay for WLS

Pamela, don't get discouraged, check out other sites like the Wish Center in Arizona, get your referrral from you PCP and start calling around. When you are on this web site ,you click on Arizona or California, then Click on Bariatric Surgeons. You will see many different people who had had Medicaid that have been approved. Don't give up. I myself am going to Arizona the Mayo Clinic.

I am living in the same nightmare. (See my post above). Are you sure medicaid will not pay for the surgery? Under ADA obseity is a disability. A friend of mine told me that going on disability for my weight (BMI=66), would get medicaid to pay for it because it is a medical necessity. Check with your disability/health office. I'm not ready to take that step yet. In my second appeal, I am threatening my insurance company with a civil rights discrimination case because they won't approve me. Hang in there.
