Hi, I am having my surgery on Monday 2/9 at UNMH. I am getting nervous. Is there anyone out there who is willing to share their experience with me? I read all the profiles for NM and it really helped to find out what others have gone through.

Congratulations on your surgery. Where are you going? Let me know when you get back. It would be great to share experiences, what works for you, etc. Best wishes for you and I will pray for you.

I am going to Lubbock, TX and having my RNY done by Dr. Hall. I leave town on 2/8 with the surgery on 2/10. Planning on returning home 2/16. I would definately like to keep in touch with you and share the ups and downs after! Praying for you as well Melanie!

Have you gone to the support group at UNMH? I am trying to find someone who is currently going or has gone to find out if it really helps. I will keep in touch until you leave.

Well.. I wouldn't be the best to answer about that support group. I went 1 time and during that particular meeting they had Dr. Fry speaking... the people there didn't seem to really acknowledge that I was even there, even though I tried to talk to some people. I didn't get the best impression of it and was disappointed. In their defence, it was a crazy night with lots of people attending (more than usual I think).. and I truly want to give it another chance, but I work during the time that they hold it. I hope to go a few times after the surgery while I am off work though.

Hi Christine and Melanie. I am currently Pre op and am trying to get referred out of network to Scottsdale. Just wanted to let you know Christine that I think it may have been a hectic night that you went. Please give it a 2nd chance, I really do believe it helps because we have quite of few post ops and pre ops that attend on a regular basis. As we introduce ourselves the post ops tell us how much they gave lost and that is an eye opener to me and gives me much hope. Recently they have had special quest speaking on different topics. Thanks for your post Richard. I will give it a try hopefully on the 18th of the month. It does sound encouraging that since you are trying to go out of network too. I thought that maybe it was just me, since I wasn't part of the UNM surgery people.

OK.. last post was from Me....Dang cookies on the computer. Didn't realize posted on Hubby's name. He is having surgery 2 months after me.
