Duodenal/switch

Is there anyone out there that has been approved for the duodenal switch from New Mexico and has Lovelace (cigna). I neeed help! Thanks ,Stephanie

Stephanie, I haven't been approved but I do have Lovelace HMO and I'm working to get approved for the consult. I just finished a 3 month diet that they required since I have to go out of state to get the duodenal switch. They had previously approved a consult in state for RNY without the 3 month diet within the last year. It looks like out of network they are going to require every "I" dotted and "T" crossed Laurie, Los Alamos, NM

Stephanie, I have cigna Lovelace and both times that I spoke to someone in benefits they told me that bariatric surgery was a covered benefit. All I needed to do was get a referral from my primary care physician. I did that and now am on a waiting list with Dr. Demerest in Albuquerque. I was sent a packet from his nurse and it lists all of the information that you need. Try contacting UNMH in Albuquerque and ask for Nurse Neets. She may be able to help you also. Good Luck!!
