Hi everyone!  Well I am 10 days post op had a revision of a failed gastric sleeve to an RNY.  I started at 188 the day of surgery and am down to 173.5 this morning.  I was only in patient 1 day , last time it was 3 days 2 of them in ICU.  It's easier getting around now but I still get tired through out the day.  I plan on going back to school on Monday if I feel better.

A big problem I am having is with head hunger.  I smelled bread toasting and I was wanting it so bad! Another  problem this time around is watching my husband eat.  He makes the food look so good.lol

I was reading JC comment about scales.  Yep each scale is so different.  I think the scales at the doctors offices over weigh people.  They never take into consideration all the clothes we are wearing and of course in the winter months our clothes are naturally heavier so are the shoes.  I've always heard your true weight is what you weigh first thing in the morning with nothing on.  Thats before you eat etc.

Have a wonderful Saturday.  First day of spring and it's snowing here in Albuquerque!

Good morning!

I sure hope the head hunger goes away soon.  I have been craving a Milky Way with extra carmel candy bar.  I can even taste it in my head!  lol  My down fall is candy.  :-(

So glad that you are doing good, keep it up!  May I ask why your sleeve failed?  I was sleeved almost two years ago and have done great thus far but I like to stay on top of any potential problems.

Spring is in the air... well, somewhere I'm sure it is! haha

My sleeve failed because of my old surgeons technique.  In other words he did not take 70% off as he said he did.   He took off much less which was confirmed by my present surgeon through numeorus EGD's. The x surgeon also put a mesh around the stomach which he told me would creat scar tissue and prevent my stomach from stretching.  All the mess did was cause a stricture which required me to drink fluids with my meals because the food would get stuck in my esphogus.  I began to have real hunger every two hours.  Not head hunger but real hunger.  I had no follow up no visits and never saw a nutritionist and was basically left to fend for myself.  That surgeon closed his practice and is now out of the country.  Hopefully for good.

I was faithfully going to the gym 3 to 4 times a week doing my spin classes, aqua classes and weight training.  Not to mention using the treadmill and eliptical.  I would spend at least 2 hours at the gym. I was gaining weight back pretty quickly.

I know I was eating more because small amounts were not satisfying my hunger.  I kept taking all my vitamins and tried to eat healthy foods such as chicken, fish, salads, no sodas and mainly drank water.  I began to fill the same way I did when I was on diets like WW, JC- a failure so I began to give up.  Fortunately I have a great case manager who helped me find a new surgeon who would follow me.  He confirmed that I would easily gain 100 pounds.

Sorry this seems so jumbled but as I sit here and think of how Dr. Freeza (old surgeon) did such a lousey job and I had to go through another surgery to fix his mess I get really upset.

You are lucky your sleeve is working for you.  It does work for a lot of people who had good surgeons who knew what they were doing.  I was also sleeved 2 years and 3 months ago.  I am happy to have had the RNY with a great surgeon doing the job this time around!

My goodness, you sure had the surgeon from hell, didn't you!  I'm so glad things are better now and you are back on the weight loss road with no complications.  Stay positive and keep us posted on how things are going for you.

Sorry you had such a terrible time.  I'm glad Dr. Syn was able to help you.  I have heard nothing but good things about him.

If you're in Albuquerque, you should try to come to our support group meetings.  Lots of Dr. Syn's patients there.  We meet the 1st and 3rd Wed of each month at Grace Church at 6:30 p.m.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I would love to go to the meetings!  I will make it a point to attend the next meeting.  What is the address for Grace Church?

CC, so glad to hear you're doing better.  I've been to two of the support group meetings and I had a different surgeon than most of the people there.  I'm so glad I found the group and look forward to the next meeting.  I'm two years out and still need to be reminded about the difference between head hunger and stomach hunger.  I see that I've fallen into some old habits of feeding something I'm "feeling" and not true hunger.  If you do go to the meeting, please be sure to introduce yourself to me.  I love to meet new people and we can compare notes on our weight loss experiences.  Kelly

The church is located on San Antonio just west of Louisiana at 6901 San Antionio NE.  We will be in the building that is most to the north.  You will see signs.  We will be having a protein exchange at the next meeting - please come!  :o)
