Anyone have band surgery with Dr. Acosta?

The insurance company was great!  The medical director went back to my original weight.  I have a case manager who is fantastic!  She guided me through the process with ease!  Of course I had to see endocrinology, psych and be followed monthly by my pcp.  I also have a great PCP.  Her name is Angela Sanchez and she is with Southwest Medical at the Northside Presbyterian building off of Osuna.

I have actually gained 23 poinds back. I am still obese. Yuk- I hate that word. lol.  I got down to size 10 pants and now I am back up to 14's. :-( I am still not a diabetic again but my hgb a1c was starting to go up.  Now I am starting to have dizzyness.  Even at night when I turn from side to side I get dizzy.  I open my eyes and the room is still moving around.  It's freaky. I will have to see my PCP about that.  I must have something going on with my inner ear. It's just been happening for the last 2 weeks or so.  Maybe it's stress related. lol

Have a great weekend!  I will keep in touch!

oh wow!!  I am glad that you got your approval so easily!  Dr. Acosta didn't feel that insurance would approve me getting a revision to RNY because I was no longer morbidly obese.  I am still obese though....LOL  I hate BMI charts.  I got down to 155 lbs but I am back up to 180.  I am thankful that he was able to fix my band if I wasn't able to get RNY.  I definitely know I need a tool to help me out, without a doubt!!

I am happy for you and yes, keep in touch!

I was lucky to have a case manager who was in constant touch with the health plans medical director. She guided me through the process and I followed her instructions to the "T". (I would of rather had the band instead of the sleeve the first time around but I remember Freeza telling me I couldn't because I was a diabetic.  He was such a liar).

I was able to let Dr. Syn know their thoughts and that having an RYN wasn't out of the question as long as he felt it was necessary. In the end everything worked out.

Yes, I need the tool to keep the weight off also.  With my stomach back to normal size now it's just so easy to give up but thank goodness I didn't.  I want to be healthy.  God knows I am to old to be sexy!  lol

I am so happy to been directed to Dr. Syn and I am thankful he has so much experience in revisions and accepted me as his patients. He is the best revision doctor in the nation!

I will talk with you soon!

Yes, you are luck but also smart and resourceful!!  ha ha
I had Diabetes too, and Frezza told me that I couldn't have the sleeve because Presbyterian would never pay for it.  He is a piece of work!!

He just manipulated all of us in to believing he knew what he was doing.  It worked unfortunately.  We have learned and we have moved on to better things!
