New Mexico group small but hopefully growing

Hi Everyone,

I live in Abq., and looking for a revision to DS.  I had stomach stapling about 19 yrs ago.  Needless to say I gained the weight back and have kind of beat myself up about it until I started lurking around these boards and found out HEY!! I'm not alone. 

I love New Mexico, just wish our health care was better.  I'll have to travel out of state for surgery and just  hope I can a PCP here that is behind me in this new venture.  I've lived here 20 yrs. but  my present pcp isn't keen on surgery.  She is skinny and hasn't a clue about obesity. 

I would love to hear from more of you who are in NM and have had WLS, wanting WLS and if anybody meets as a group.  I'd love to start a group or join one!!!

I know that there are support groups in Las Cruces but I don't know of any in ALB. I would be interested in attending one in Alb along with a couple of other people I know.

No,  I am from Socorro.   There is several people that are from here and some are doing really good and some have forgot their tool...............   I love reading everyone's suggestions, comments, and because of that I am successful....

Hi Darlene!

I live in Los Lunas and commute to ABQ daily. My primary, Marilyn Newby, with ABQ Healthpartners at the Montgomery Cinic suggested that I have the lapband procedure at my annual physical. She has a few other patients who have had success with it. She is a very caring person. She is very supportive and has worked closely with me and the staff at Las Palmas/Del Sol (El Paso) over the past six months to obtain approval from the insurance company (Cigna). I will have my surgery tomorrow.  Give her a try.

Once on UTube, I read of a woman who had the gastric bypass, gained weight back, then had the lapband procedure. It worked for her.

I may be interested in joining a group.....Keep us posted.

Darlene, I'm in ABQ as well.  Would love to get together sometime!  I had WLS (vertical sleeve) done in Flagstaff, AZ on 05-29-08 and I'm doing great!

Hi Kat,  So happy you are doing great.  Nice that you found a surgeon "relatively" close by.  I'm going to try to see if I can get a group together next month sometime.  I go to Calif. next week so I'll work on it when I get back...around middle of the month.
