Any MD's in NM

I live in central NM and to date have not found a bariatric surgeon . I have an appointment this week in Dallas. However, if someone knows of a great surgeon here in central NM..i would like to have surgery close to home. At this time I am considering a lap-band.

I don't think there are any surgeons in the state of NM.  Most people go to either Phoenix or Lubbock.  I went to Houston for mine because there was no one here.

Hi! I am using Dr. Bruce Applebaum in El Paso. It is lots closer than Denver or Phoenix, and he is a noted "Center of Excellence". He has a great bedside manner and his staff is really nice too. As far as I know he is one of the more experienced surgeons in the area. There are 2 other doctors who practice in El Paso at Del Sol Bariatric Center. I think they are good also, but I wanted the most experienced one available.

Hello I live in Las Cruces and found wonderful Drs in El Paso, del Sol is great and also Providence. I had mine 18 months ago at del Sol and have been very happy. where do you live. Alot of people come from Alb, farmington and such. El PAso maybe be your best bet let me know Kelly

Nope, no surgeons in the state of NM. I went to Lubbock, close enough to Santa Fe (5 hours driving). Dr. Syn. He is great.

I also used Dr.Syn in Lubbock Tx...he has a great staff thats ALL very friendly...a Nutritionist on staff thats available  to u all the time, u can even email her. He has website www.advancedbariatricsurgery.com this is great to chat with others that have gone through this. I have had no complications and very little pain, with a small incision... I was released to go home in less than 24hrs. He uses a pain pump in the incision site called an "ON-Q"...Just my 2cents!!

I used Dr. Eldo Frezza in Lubbock. I think he is only doing the VGS now. I have heard rumors that Lovelace is bringing in a Dr. from Montana this summer. You could call Lovelace and see if it is true?

Thank you for this information. I have will be going to CA for my VGS in July. I think a surgeon would do very well in NM.
