SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS

Can any WLS patient attend support group meetings?  It was talked about tonight at the Las Cruces group that the El Paso meetings are more structured and sound interesting.  I did not have surgery in the area and would love to meet other people in my same boat.  If anyone knows if you can attend meeting wiht a group that did not do  your surgery please let me know and if you know how to find out about the meetings please let me know.

Denise, you should call either Prodence or Del Sol and ask them if you could come to support group there. I am so sorry we are not more structured. We do not have the backing that the hospitals have, They are able to bring in more guest to speak and they have more to give. A lot of times people do not want to be bothered with small town support groups especially if they do not get paid. Please give me more ideas about how to better meet your needs in our small group but I would also ask if you could join a large hospital supported group. Just explain you would like to have somewhere to attend meeting close to you. Hope this helps Kelly

HI Denise It is my understanding that both Providence and Del Sol allow anyone to come to the meetings.  The Providence meetings are the 3rd thursday in el paso at 5:30 and every other month on the third monday in las cruces (ywca) at 5:30.  you can call michelle at providence (sorry i dont have the number) and request to be put on the mailing list as for the del sol meetigns you an contact them- i dont recall the number but i get monthly emails from: [email protected] hope that helps robyn
