Anyone have BC/BS of NM surgery

Does anyone have Bluecross blueshield of New mexico? Do you know if covers RNY. I am asking because my sister in law would lke to get surgery.... Thanks

Hi Cindy, I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of NM, but am under the federal plan. It really depends on what specific plan you have, not who provides it. I had no trouble getting approval. Your sister-in-law needs to contact her provider to see what is covered and what the preliminary requirements are. Be good to yourself!

I have it and just had surgery December 10.  My doctor is out of network so I'm waiting to see how much I will have to pay.

I have BC/BS of NM and I am on the State plan. I am having the RNY surgery on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008. My insurance approval went through very easily (much to my surprise). My total out of pocket cost for the surgery is $300. I would not be able to have the surgery without insurance. BC/BS of NM has been very easy to work with and most helpful thus far. dana
