My surgery is on 18th and why am I feeling so afraid? It has been on my mind alot. I keep having thoughts of not making it in surgery. Is that normal? I sure could use some friends at this time. I do have a supportive husband.........Cindy

YOU are SOOO normal.. it's scary!!  I had my surgery 3 years ago.. and remember oh so well the rollercoaster ride of emotions.. especially a couple weeks out from surgery.  I think cuz it was around the time I was getting a living will ready.. and having my mom's name added to my checking acct.. *just in case* .. and the chance of not making it was right there and real.  It is something to face.. but I just kept doing each thing.. and crying at work.. and crying while riding in the car.. and crying watching commercials... and finally about the week of surgery I was at peace. If you know this is what you want.. just hang on.. and keep going.  Soon the day will come and you will wake up and hurt like hell..  but after that.. you will start dropping the pounds and each morning you wake up.. you will feel skinnier and skinnier... I know I did.  I have no regrets.. I have had no complications..  if you like please join some of us on this board.. Friends and Family..  http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/family_and_friends_support / post.. and you will get much support from there we love meeting new people.. and would love to have you there with us!! hugsss, Rhonda

CIndy- You are totally normal.  Everyone goes through that freak out a week or two before surgery! There is someone here in ABQ who had surgery with Dr Applebauma nd she has done very well.  I wish I was closer to offer more support but let me know if I can help in any way. Valerie in ABQ

Hi Valerie, Thank  You for  taking time to read my post. Iam finding out it is normal. I have been through other surgerys and did not feel this way with those surgerys. I sure could use your support. I find my self having these lil crying spells. just a couple of seconds but I do not let my family see this. I have done all my research and it is the best  tool I can have. How is the person  that had surgery with Dr Applebaum doing? I found that he is a great listener, I felt really comfortable with him. He took time to speak and explain surgery.  Time is just going by so fast. Well Valerie thank you so much  for getting back with me on my situation.  Keep in touch.....Cindy

If you haven't yet.. here is this site that you can review other patient's on this site.. who has your surgeon..  Also if you look around you can check out other statistics about him..

I found this just by clicking on your surgeon's name on your profile..  best wishes.. and I hope today does not find you too emotional!!

Thanks so much for info. I checked it out . It really gave me comfort to read all comments about r Applebaum. I was not aware that he had performed more then 800 surgerys. I am doing alot of learning on computer. I am doing good today. I owe it to you.Thank you.....Cindy
