Do you mean have one and then be revised to the other or have BOTH at the same time? Hi...I'd like to suggest you post also to the lap band forum here at obesityhelp - it's a very active and friendly board and I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses to your questions. You can find it by clicking the forums tab up top and then choose Lap Band from the Surgery Types Forums list. Best of luck in your endeavors! And you are MOST welcome to continue posting on the mainboard as well - just that you'll find more of those with your surgery type on the other forum. Or at the forums tab, choose the sleeve gastrectomy or Revisions forums. Good luck! ~Tooter

Hey Stephen I had the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy with the Lap Band on Dec. 12, 2005. I'm happy with it. I was supposed to have the RYN but my liver was in bad shape and they were afraid to slice through it with all the re-routing. So Dr. Frezza's office called me the week before my surgery and said they were doing the VSG w/Band and they had to do it early. So, after no deliberation or thought of this surgery I just went for it. I trusted that he knew best. In two weeks I will be 6 months out and I have lost 80 lbs. I've only had to go for 1 fill but am feeling like I need another. It's weird, sometimes I can really eat a lot and others I can't, sometimes I'm hungry, sometimes I'm not *shrugs* I know I could be doing better than I am as far as the food I'm eating. I was told by Dr.'s office when I went for my fill on March 27th and was down 60 lbs that I was doing great so I feel ok with where I'm at. The surgery was nothing. I went in on Monday the 12th and left the hospital on the 13th. I stayed one extra night in Lubbock just to be sure. I was off my pain meds that same week. I had 4 small incisions under 1/2 inch and 1 where my port is that is about 1 inch. I soaked up the time off from work and stayed off for almost 2 months. All in all, it wasn't all that bad. Good Luck!

Hi Steven I aso had the same procedure withn dr Frezza. I am 3 weeks post and can eat almost anything. and had no problem from the begining. I am alittle worried I wont lose because I can eat about 6oz a meal and somtimes still feel hungry. What were you eating @ 3 weeks out?

Hi Sarina, At the beginning (all of Dec and Jan) I stuck to the diet that Dr. Frezza provided. I was never really hungry, I only ate because I knew I needed too. I was too afraid to do anything wrong and the weight was dropping like crazy I didnt want to spoil the excitement. Probably about March I was eating things I should'nt (very little tho) but now I can eat anything I want, risking that I wont lose like I want too. I hate when people say Bariatric Surgery is the easy way out because I have never worked so hard in my life. It's all very high maintenance. If I have just my protein, cottage cheese, yogurt and water in a day, I lose a couple pounds but if I eat a Happy Meal, I wont lose for a couple of days. I'm finding the decipline to be the hard part of all this. Marie
