Topic: RE: How many last meals will I have??? HELP!!!!!
Terrie, Terrie, Terrie!  Every pound you put on now is another one you will have to lose after your surgery!

In reality there is probably nothing you can never eat again.  Even with gastric bypass after a couple of years your stomach should be able to handle just about everything it could before, just in smaller portions.  That's why its so important to take as much advantange of that "Honeymoon Phase"  the first year after surgery when the weight comes off fast.  Yes, with gastric bypass you get dumping syndrome but that lessens over time to the point that most can eat everything they did before in a couple of years.  I have been a member of a weight loss surgery site in British Columbia for several years and that one has almost all gastric bypass patients.  I have read several of the long time RNYs saying they still love their Tim Horton's donuts.

Don't tell yourself you can never eat it again.  Just tell yourself you just won't have it for awhile.

Hugs Terrie, but you can do better and you know it!

It must be getting bad now....LOL My husband said yesterday "so, what last
meal are you having today???"  Since I got my call or maybe even a little bit
before that. I started saying I want this and I want that... I been sending Bill
out for my new craving everyday. I want this before surgery, I won't be able
to have a Tim's donut ever again. So, I have been going crazy.... help me stop
this is craziness... isn't it? Had a pizza in town last week, had Mary browns,
yesterday. McDonald's for lunch. I admit that I have ice cream in the freezer
to watch Am. has Talent tonight. Has Anyone else gone through a stage like
this???? I have told myself that it all ends on the 16th. after my appointment.
Any thoughts on the subject???? Tell me how bad I am, I can take it....LOL

Tina, I doubt very much that MCP will start covering the Lap-band it's not as
beneficial in weight loss. It's good for someone who could lose 60-80lbs.
but, it has to be adjusted. When I read about it. It would be something
used more as cosmetically as a choice. not for someone like us with
med. problems. Am I making any sense??? LOL MCP is not going to start
paying for people who say I want to lose 50 lbs. think I'll use the lap-band.

Hi Newfie88: Gastric is also covered by MCP but he hasn't started that surgery yet.
I hoping to ask him next week if I can be his 1st. guin. pig for that one. I didn't think
they would cover banding, it's not the best solution for weight loss. I already know
that I have sleep apnea and I have my CPAP machine, so I won't have to do that one.

Oh,  I was told by MCP a few months back that they were going to cover VSG, Lapband, and Gastric Bypass.  Maybe its just that the other surgeries have not started yet, or maybe something else has changed.  Its so hard to keep up on what's going on.  I wish they would set up a website where we could get the details.

Thank you Tir and Terri,It looks like another waiting game now. They told me they'ed call.
Tir,I really did'nt know what I was going to have for sure, very confusing when you're new at this.Anyway Dr.Pace just wrote on a piece of paper Vertical sleeve Gasterectomy passed it to me and said this is what we're doing and then continued to show me what would be done on paper.
Apparently this is also the only one covered by M.C.P.Also saw the dietitician, seems like we may have to meet again to get all of what we have to do.
He also said I had to have a sleep apnea test done. That's about it.

                                                                                                                   Thanks again
