Congrats Jenn on moving that scale....I wanted to tell you about a little trick that helps me
with the CPAP machine. I have the full mask. I found that better than the nose one. Anyway,
'veI been wearing mine for over a year now. I was having trouble wearing mine. But, once you
get it on and you are settled in, don't concentrate on breathing. I found because you are
wearing this mask you will think about it more. I concentrate on my eyes going to sleep. Just
try it, you think about your eyes being closed but try to make them close the second time. It
sounds funny but when you do it, it's almost like you have a second eye lid. You close your
eyes at first but you can still see a little bit of light, you need to close them again to block
out the light... I find that if I play this little game, in no time I am asleep. Mask is forgotten .It
sounds strange but it helps me...Give it a try.

Tina, what are you, psychic? :) I was just thinking I should probably update my blog. Will try and do today with some more details, but here are the highlights:
- bad abdominal pain woke me up the night-before-last - was worried, but went on the forum and got suggestion to try ho****er bottle as it was likely constipation
- still feeling weird yesterday, so got into my family doc and she agrees, it may likely just be constipation, so got a prescription to "get things moving" - still waiting for results
- likely causes: not enough water, the Tums we take for calcium supplementation
- it is REALLY hard to get enough water to stay hydrated post-op
- also got script for a PPI to reduce stomach acid on recommendation from other VSG patients on these forums
- scale seems to be moving again - down to 235 yesterday
- diet and exercise going well - back on mostly liquids (one mushy meal per day for dinner - last night had some soft flaked cod, mushy peas and some mashed potatoes with a dollop of onion sour cream dip) and had a good chat with the newly-hired dietician at Eastern Health
- she is now doing research into the pre-and-post-op diets and is taking a look at the one I'm following from Cornell - she'll be developing something specific for Eastern Health at some point that may or may not follow the super-strict guidelines from Nova Scotia's program
- Tired, though - not using the CPAP machine as regularly as I should - it's been bugging me lately, but I am going to give in another try tonight
- worked two 4-hour shifts with no problem on Monday and Tuesday, but am taking today off entirely because I am waiting for the constipation meds to work
And I am pretty happy. Just a bit tired today, so glad I have the option to stay home and not pu**** too far.
Love to all,
J

Write it on your calendar so you will remember to call on your day off. Can you call during your lunch hour? One day I called at 12:25 and Janice answered right away.

Jenn, How are you doing today? Its important that we fight the feeling of discouragement. Keep posting here or update your blog. Get your feelings out, good or bad. Did you go back to liquids?
Topic: RE: No call for me
I did get a bit discouraged after talking to Janice. I just felt that The ones in 2002 who sent in their referrals at that time, should of sent in another since he was not practicing those surgeries. I could see if he was doing them all along and it was a wait list. Anyways it dont matter anymore I am trying to be positive and not give up hope. I am in my eary 30's weighting at 270 pounds and 5'2 in height and feel like I am a old women. It hurts to walk for any length of time. With my work I could be on my feet for 12 hours a day. I feel like my legs are going to give out on me. If I dont have my call by this winter I will get a loan and go out of the province. .

Oh awesome.. My understanding was that I didnt have a chance this year because of the people back in 2002. Maybe I will have a chance. If I didnt work so much I would be calling in more. But then again I am so tired on my days off that I dont remember to call. lol
Congrats!
Congrats!

That's not true nlwomen, Janice will give you that impression. But, you will get on the list.
Go in and read what I just wrote to Beatle. It sounds like a far off battle that you will never
win. There is hope on the horizon. From what I have learned. He will only organize so
many patients at a time. When he gets this batch of us done. I'm sure you will be
added in the next groupand as he gets more surgeries under his belt he will pickup
the pace... no pun intended.

Hey Beatle we all have these days, you are not the only one !!! Tina and I can tell
you how frustrated we were. We started taking turns calling Janice to see what we
could find out. We were going crazy. Just to get some little bit of info out of her. LOL
She is a very nice person but a rock with info.Couldn't find out if we were on a list.
When you finally get your call you will be so happy , and all the feelings you have now
will fly right out the window. When she said Terrie I have your appointment I said ohhhh,
Thank you , thank you....and she laughed at me. My head just danced. So, you just
hang in there and your day will be here before you know it.
Dr. Pace number 777-6558
P.S. I called Janice every two weeks for 4 months before she would even let me
send in a referral. Blair Flemming at MCP told me Dr. Pace was setting this up
but she would take a referral until that one day in Jan.when she finally said yes,
have your doc send it in. I was so happy that day. Then the next battle getting
I was talking about above. Getting on the list. We have survived it Beatle and
so will you.

Topic: RE: How many last meals will I have??? HELP!!!!!
Thank you everyone for your honesty. From what I have read about Gastric.
They remove the part of the bowel that processes the sugar and you get the
dumping if you try to eat any sugar.Mary, I didn't know that you can eat sugars
years later. WOW! That helps me so much to know that. I am not a big sugar or
sweets person. My weakness is I love the big homecooked meals. But,the thought
of never eating a donut again for example really makes a person nutty. Tammy I
never ate at night either, until lately... it's crazy.I did the same thing the other night
I went in the fridge around 10pm. and cut off a chunk of cold meatloaf. I paid for it
all night with heart burn. So, that was my kick in the pants that night. I know that I
can do this later. I used to be 128 lbs. before my pregnancies. and it snowballed
from there. But, I really need this to get my life back for myself and my husband.
I want to be able to play with my grandkids. Tina, my first and best friend in here.
You have been so much help to me already. I appreciate all your opinions.
This site is a god send. All you guys are awesome.
