Your sandwich sounds yummy - I could eat it - but maybe with only one slice of soy/flax bread - so 1/2 of the fixins and I would have to ditch the fries - or maybe have 3 or 4 - the restriction of my RNY is what keeps me honest - I just can't eat very big amounts of anything - and I have to eat very slowly and chew everything to death. Salmon, broccoli and rice sounds perfect!

I wish I liked mussels, sounds yummy....I had a club sandwich with lean turkey, turkey bacon, tomato, lettuce , fat free cheese slice and w/w bread and on the side I had a cup of sweet potato fries...baked of course.....Now for supper tomorrow, what a delima...lol.....Im lucky I love meat and veg's and also fruit...my biggest part is eating too much . I saw a dietitian a few years ago and she said my portions were for 3 people...but I must say I have never seen any person eat a 1/2 cup of rice with there stir fry.
I think maybe tomorrow I will have salmon , rice and broccoli. :)

Topic: RE: How many last meals will I have??? HELP!!!!!
You will survive - and you will have bbq again - mine these days consist of 3 to 4oz of meat - then a few bites of potatoe, mushrooms and onion, and a 1/2 slice of garlic bread - always protein first - and it takes me a good long time to eat it - but it's some good! Any questions you have - anytime - nothings off limits - I'm here.

Thanks Mary, You have been so awesome with all this info. I won't say I have a
sweet tooth either. But, you know the saying and when someone tells you that
you can't have it, well, tehn that's exactly what you crave...LOL I'm sure I will
learn my limits. And I will miss my mother-in-laws Sunday dinners for a while.
and BBQ's also. But, my health is more important so I shall overcome and I
will survive!!!

Welcome to the site Jamie! I can feel your excitement - I just want to say to everyone how thrilled I am there there is action on this message board and how great you all are to each other - sharing info, giving support, a kick in the pants if needed, meeting for a chat. It's awesome. As there was no WLS in NL 3 yrs ago - I frequented the New Brunswick board and go to know some of the people on there quite well. As a matter of fact - one of the girls I met at my info session in Moncton MANY yrs ago - she is one of my besties - we have visited each other - our hubbies have met each other - we had a lovely visit with them last summer in NB. They are getting married this summer and we will be there for that. I expect we will always be friends. Someone once told me that us folks who are waiting for WLS and who are post-op - we are like members of a secret club. Only those of us who are on this journey can really understand the feelings, hope and dreams that we share. It's so true - I easily remember how excited I was as my surgery date came closer - and feel it for you guys as well. I smile so much when reading all your posts - how excited and nervous you are. I remember it like it was yesterday. Have a great day everyone!

Hi Terrie - Just remember - that some post-ops do dump - and I'm sure you have read about how unpleasant it can be for those folks. Once you are a post-op - it's a huge learning curve that goes on forever. What works for you - what doesn't. I'm not proud of it - but I could eat a donut or small piece of cake no problem if I wanted to. The funny thing is - I NEVER had a sweet tooth pre-op. I was more likely to reach for some cheese and crackers - or a slice of toast with peanut butter. So - I just don't have anything in the house that is tempting. Plain and simple. It's easy for me to do that because my son is 23yrs old and away at school in St. John's and my husband works away in Labrador or Sask for the most part. If it's not here in the house - I can't eat it. At work - it's hard. I work in ER and there is ALWAYS junk around. As for a big old cooked dinner - I go for the protein first - a leaner piece of turkey or roast or whatever it is, salt meat and I have never gotten along post-op - so I skip that. Maybe a bite or two of potato, turnip etc. A bite or two of dressing. Very small portions - as I said I have good restriction still - and just when I feel like I want that one last bite - I have earned that's the one that will make me overfull and uncomfortable. I take my time eating - up to 30 mins for a meal like I just described - it just doesn't go down well if I rush. And I find that if I am stressed - same thing. As a post-op - it takes a while to figure out what works for you and what doesn't. Everyone is different. But - there is life after weight loss surgery. I promise! Take care.

Hi Deb: You mentioned candy. I am having the gastric . I have read and have been
told you will NEVER tolerate sugar again. Because they remove that first part of
your intestine that processes sugar. So, you get really sick if you try having it.You
are the 3rd. person today that has mentioned that you will eventually tolerate sugar
at some point in the future. I am not a big sugar fan. The odd Tim's donut or a slice
of cheese cake but, when you hear the words never again. It sticks in your brain.
Besides the milkshakes, do you tolerate any desserts in little quantities?

Welcome to the site Jamie, and Congratulations !!!! It's been a long time coming for you.
I've been only struggling for 2 years now.I feel your pain. I have my first visit with Dr.
Pace on the 16th. I already have the sleep apnea, use a CPAP machine nightly. So,
I will be able to skip that step. Everyone that I have met in here is very nice, helpful
and informative. I'm sure you will get a lot of the info you want and some you don't
want...>LOL Good Luck with your surgery and speedy recovery.
