That is so great! When is your surgery date? In July, I assume?
Also, have fun meeting Dr. Jamie Farrell, the respirologist, for your followup after your sleep test - he's very nice and a HOTTIE.
Don't forget I work at the HSC, so if you want to meet up for a tea anytime you're in, just let me know.

Right now I suffer from diabetis (7 needled a day) thyroid underactive) arthritis, MS, and have already have had a spinal fusion in my teens from Spina Bifida Minor occulta...its a long list, but with the help of this surgery I am hoping to maybe scratch at least a one or two of these off the list....You must be so proud of urself I know I am proud of you...keep up the good work!! I hope to follow in your footsteps in weeks to come! God Bless ♥
Topic: RE: What's for Dinner?
So I was wondering If the whole wheat bread is something I wont be able to eat after my surgery also the same with the sweet potato fries( baked that is )? I find I try to eat healthy foods and now that I'm dieting again for the 100Th time I'm trying to watch my portions....If I could loose even 20 on my own before surgery I'll be a head of the game :)

Hi Jamie;
Hice to hear from you. First of all I am a senior...62 years old. Had my surgery April 1, 2011. I then weighed 263 LBS and now as of this morning I weigh 210. When I was referred to the weight loss clinic in Ottawa last year I weighed 273. I waited for the surgery for about one year....long waiting list, but during that time, I researched everything I could about the Roux-en-y procedure. Before the surgery I was taking 19 different meds spread out during the day. Now I take a grand total of 8. I was also using a CPAP (I had terrible sleep apnea) but I don't use it anymore. I was having a very hard time getting around before the surgery because of very bad arthritis, rheumatism and bad knees. Now I get out for walks, go mall walking and this year I expect to take in country fairs.
The day of my surgery I wore a size 22 jean to the hospital, today I am wearing size 15-16 jean. I now buy all my clothes at the secondhand store because I am loosing weight too fast. It would be a waste of money to be buying new cloths every 2-3 weeks or so. I am now more than half way to my goal weight so I am very happy with the results of my surgery.
Don't get me wrong, this surgery itself is no cake walk but it is well worth it.......it was for me. I got my life back. For sure I would recommend this surgery to anyone. The younger you are the more enjoyment you will get from this surgery. This surgery gives you back your health, self esteem and an overall joy for life.
Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement.
