Topic: Weight Loss Surgery in NL
HI, I'm new to this site and I am just wondering if anyone can tell me if weight loss surgery is being done in NL?  I have been approved for gastric bypass surgery to be covered by MCP for medical reasons, that was about a year ago.  At that time, I was told that Dr. Pace was willing to do surgery here in NL but he was not able to because there was no OR time available for him to do so. I was told that I would have to go out of province and was put on a wait list with Dr. Beausoleil in Quebec. I was told his wait list is about 5 years. I have been reading some of the posts here and have seen some people talk about having appointments with Dr. Pace and about getting the surgery, so, I am wondering if anyone can tell me if Dr. Pace is now doing surgery in NL??  I'm happy that I am finally on a wait list with the surgeon in Quebec but 5 years is a long time to wait while being unhealthy and unhappy...any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated...thanks

I always mix my scoop of protein powder (35-40 g of protein, depending on the brand) with 1 cup of skim milk (9 g), 4 ice cubes and sometimes a banana. :)

I DO feel less hungry and I have lost weight - still going, please God.

What do you mix your shakes with? Also how much protien do they have..So there is no chewy food at all. Can you eat apple sauce, stuff like that...Hell I can't wait to start it just to see how I do,sounds weird i guess to some people but its gives you the insight as to what it will be like after surgery....
I hope your feeling a lot less hungry now and i bet you have lost weight...

Congrats Jenn.  That's a total of 50 lbs gone from you heaviest weight.  You must feel amazing.  Can't wait to join you.  Do you know if anyone else has had surgery yet?

Sorry I've been so out-of-touch!  Excuses include vacation and post-vacation busy-ness.

I owe you an update - many adventures in post-op eating (and puking when I inadvertently overdid it) over the last month to share, but I think I am finally stabilizing again.  Down to 220 - woot!  Several NSVs: I can now cross my legs, I can now walk up three flights of stairs w/out puffing and I danced in high heels for several hours at my Dad's party recently!

LIFE-CHANGING!

I am so grateful.

More later...

I also had low fat cottage cheese, hummus, unsweetened apple suace, Swiss Chalet sauce as a soup, and....well, yeah, I remember that it did just mostly suck!

It was the hardest part of my whole journey.

STAY STRONG!

(And have a look at my blog if you want a laugh about some of my stories when I went pre-op.)

I've heard sugar free popcicles help.  You get the sensation of chewing so you feel like you have eaten something.
