Hi Gals,
I got "THE" call yesterday, my surgery is for the 29th of August....eekkk...Ralene ( The Nurse) called me and gave me the news, she also informed me that there is another lady getting done the same time as me....I would love to know who it is, we are gonna be spending a few days together and would like to at least have a chat before hand...Needless to say I am at another level of nervousness right now, but extremely excited..I know I will be fine..I just cant wait for all this to be over so I can start my journey to the healthy me...I know with lots of prayers and support I will win this battle and all you ladies on here...YOUR NEXT!!  I am so excited for everyone else, I cant wait till you guys fell the same as I do today...My prayers have been answered!!  :) ♥

That's great Tina! Enjoy your time on the Island - my Mom is from there and my parents have a summer home near Charlottetown on the shore. I have gone at least twice a summer to visit them there - such a peaceful place. Take care and do eat some lean protein with your salads - you wouldn't want to fall sick during your holidays. Add some shredded skim milk cheese, turkey or chicken, sunflower seeds - whatever works for you!

I'm here on vacation in PEI since July 29  and I got a call on Tuesday  me to be in St. John's to see the nurse practitioner (Raydeen) and the dietitian yesterday.  I told them that I was in PEI until the 20th  which I had also told Dr. Pace when I met with him.  Yesterday I get call from the nurse practitioner wanting me in St. John's this Friday.  Once again I told her I couldn't be there and we settled on an appointment for August 26.  She told me there have been no surgeries since Jenn and Tracey because with the summer staffing shortage they have not been able to schedule elective surgeries.  Beginning in September they will be doing 2 per week.  She said that since I am to be done in September I will be one of the first to be done.  Thats scary since my BMI is higher that Jenn's and Tracy's was.  I will meet with Rhoda the dietitian next week and then start my liquid diet.  So much for vacation eating.  Tomorrow I start with salads and water.

hi everybody, I'm a newbie as of tonight, aug 8 2011. This symposium is adderessed to Ladies, are men welcome as well. I'm a 56 year old man who weights about 360lbs and is 6ft. tall. I;ve been carrying this extra weight for aprox 10-14 years. I just had total hip replacement in June 2011 so I am ih less pain and am just begining to get going now. I just started to look into weight loss surgery or a place I could go for months at a time and exercise and get the phsycological and nutrictional help I need before I elect to have surgery. Does anyone know of such a place, that's close by and reasonabley priced......sure could use your help.......thanks....jnels

Okay! I will start looking for a place and talk to Dr. Pace to see if when he's available, as well as some other potential speakers. But don't worry - I also want to make sure there is plenty of time for us to talk privately and just get to know each other a bit better too.

I bet I can probably find a place in the Health Sciences Centre itself somewhere...just wondering how many we should plan for!

Wheelchair accessible is a great point - Carrie, you are not the only one in that situation, I am sure.

Stay tuned for updates...and if you are reading this and haven't "outed" yourself on this forum yet, I really encourage you to do so. We really want to know you!

Hi Jenn, Sounds real good...I'm in Ontario right now because my brother is terminal with cancer but will be flying back and forth...I did have a good chat with the nurse practitioner and am hoping my time will be soon for the wls....please keep me posted if you can on where and when the meetings will be and I'll see if I will be in St John's at the time. I'm even more disable due to a recent fall here in Ontario so hoping the meetings will be in a wheelchair accessible place if possible...If not maybe we could chat and you could let me know how it all goes....thanks for the great effort in doing all this for everyone. This sounds like a great idea!  I'm in St. John's, so, not really a problem for me to be there.  However, I do work Monday to Friday...so, a weekend would probably be better for me....but if I know in advance when the meeting would be, I'll ask for the time off work so I can attend!
