Topic: Another quick question
Hey guys had another quick question......does anyone know of any particular things that would not make you a good canadate for surgery? another thing to anyone who has done the full fluid trial....is there a such thing as not losing ENOUGH weight during this trial? and what kind of things do they go over for your visit about the trial. i feel like i aint journeling good enough or something feels off to me. Looks like i might get my surgery done in feb of next year. fingers crossed that im in good enough health. im a real worry wart and anything and everything goes through my head.

My BMI is 41, so I guess I would be considered less complicated.  I have an appointment with my family doctor tomorrow, hopefully will get the ball rolling for me so I can get in to see Dr. Pace.
Thank you so much for the infor tir681 - i really appreciate it!!

Depends.  If you have a low BMI say around 45 or under people seem to be getting in for their first appointment within a few weeks.  If you have a higher BMI the wait could be several months.  The reason for this is that this is a really new program to Newfoundland.  They want to do several lower BMI first for 2 reasons.  1. Dr. Pace although a very experienced (and very good according to my family Dr.) surgeon does not have a huge amount of experience with this particular surgery.  He wants to do several less complicated ones before he moves on to the higher BMIs which can more complicated.  2.  This program to date has received only temporary funding.  They want several less complicated patients to go through first so they have some great data to use to fight to get this program funded permanently.

Terrie,  little hand held electric blender you can gat a walmart for about $20 will do a fine job getting rid of the lumps.  You just need to rinse the end and its clean.  I tried making one by shaking it and it was horrible.

Thanks Ladies for the updates, we always look forward to learning the post-op gossip...LOL
Jenn the shakes you are talking about you have to mix the powder with water???? YUCK!!!
I have been taking two different ones since June. the Boost  yummy... and a powder one
that I have to mix  I don't love it. I put it in a bottle and shake the crap out of it but still ends
up lumpy and gross. How do those ones mix that you are talking about? I cannot drag out my
mixer everytime I want to mix one. .I find the pre-mixed ones so convenient.

Topic: RE: Had my surgery and its going down from here !
Hi Katie: Have you tried maybe a different kind of shake? You mentioned your sugars, are you
taking the glucerna ones? There are boost and ensure etc. maybe the taste of another one might
get you through another week. Tina mentioned that she can't find sugar free popcicles. I've
been getting those Mott's Fruitsations juice ice bars no sugar added. They are awesome. You
can get the crunch of something different  without really eating. You will get through it one
day at a time. I so wish that I was in your position now with my surgery over and done with.
Good Luck , Terrie.
