Hi Trina: I have chocolate shakes in powder form. These are the shakes they get
in Ont. to take pre-op & post-op. My sister-in-laws neighbour had lapband done
in Ont. and she had shakes left that she gave me. I am not too fussy on them but
try to use them in between my boost ones. Since I found out that I won't be having
surgery until Feb. March I have been slacking on the shakes  a little bit. I have been
eating a bit more normal and thought maybe I will start up again with the liquid
diet in the new year.

Thanks ladies for all the info. I've already seen Dr. P and signed my consent
for surgery. When I saw him in June, Reyleen & Rhoda were not setup yet.
I was talking to Reyleen ( phone ) & Rhoda (emails ) and I am on their list,
But, I haven't been  to any info. sessions. I asked Rhoda in an email for
some help with the diet and she sent me the liquid diet.

Maybe she was being hard on me to make sure I step up and show her that I am ready to do this. Maybe not recording my food intake made her think I wasent serious. I have started my full fluid diet as soon as I returned home and recording everything.
Jackie when was your last appointment?  Are you on your low fat diet now or do you start after you see the surgeon??

Ya thats very expensive with gas....im sure we all have mental issues with food as well.its how we deal with those issues that becomes a problem. My issue with food is that I LOVE it and love big portions of it.lol. but thats what this tool is for is too help us control our issues and we need to be mentaly strong to take on such a tool as this. i wish you the best and keep positive....rayleen seems very understanding and maybe after your next appointment she will see a change in you. and remember its always good to be honest. you did the right thing.

Hey Jackie!   I found it very helpful also. I seen Rayleen on oct 20th. I got to do the full fluid again and fax in my journal since I live on the west coast. It cost me $100.00 in gas to travel out their each time and I wasnt comming back for that since i have already done it.  I dont know when or if I will ever get a chance to meet the surgeons.  I was complety honest with her and told her that I wasnt hungry much at all but it was more of a mental issuse. You want to eat food. We are humans and need food. She said then that I am not ready and not putting me on the list. I did follow the full fluid diet and did not stray.  I was completely honest about my feeling and apparently it was not the right choice.   We are all over weight because we like to eat and if we could control the mental part of it, we wouldn’t need surgery or be over weight. That’s why we want surgery but we also need help with the mental part of it and I am getting help.  So who knows??????

Hey TerrieNL

I went to the orientaion back in sept when the weather was not so great. lol  Their was about 30 people their. The session was about 4 hrs long and they told you everything you needed to know about the process. Apperently I didnt hear one part. lol  After that they phone you with your appointmnet  to meet and do your two week full fluid diet and record what you have consumed and the amoung of protein. They want to make sure you will be able to get the right amount of protein in after surgery.  After that they call you to meet with the dr to sign your consent and you also have to do your low fat diet to shrink your liver. Then surgey.  Maybe you should phone and ask can you go to the next orientation. As for the protein shakes I drink carnation breakfast anytime shakes at work and whey protein power at home. I have a small counter top blender for the power shakes and it works very well. I sometimes mix 1/2 scoop of meal replacement with the whey power for a better taste.
