Topic: RE: After Referral
Hi guys. I got my refferal this past Wednesday and sent it over to Rhoda and Rayleen. I talked with Rayleen and heard how this program works, and I dont know if I want to do a dance or throw up. Im 5'11" and 265 lbs, with a bmi of 37, which will make me on the lower end but still obese. I really want the surgery, ive been overweight my whole life and I want to be healthy.
My biggest worries is that I will have the surgery and go back to my old ways and gain it back. I hope that I can work to figure out my reasons for overeating, and find out what kind of a skinny chick is in this body!
Your stories are helping me see that this can be done! thanks everyone.

It did go great! Raleen and Rhoda where very supportive and both were pleased with my progress. I am already very committed to a new way of looking at food and I am doing all I can to stay on trac****il my surgery. It will be sometime in the new year before I meet with the Dr's but I can wait...in the mean time I will be working on the shrinking me!

Topic: RE: After Referral
Once my referral went in I heard from Raleen in just a few days. She explained the process and what is involved. My BMI at the time was 52.7 and it was explained that I would still have a bit of a wait. I have worked hard and lost weight. Keeping Raleen in the loop all the way. I was then invited to the last informatoin session and had my first meeting with Raleen and Rhoda today. I now have a bit of a wait to see Dr. Pace or Dr. Boone but that is okay...gives me more time to lower my BMI and reduce my risk.
The last poster is right...the next information schedule is in January!

Topic: RE: Excess skin
He isnt asking for just a normal tummy tuck...i know girls who have lost the weight on there own and mcp did cover it. they had to lose 100 pounds and keep it off for a while to be approved. there r several surgeons here who does the tummy tuck so he must be asking for a different type of surgery...
Topic: RE: After Referral
It really depends on when their next information session would be held. From what I heard, the next information session may be after Christmas, early January.
My suggestion would be to take the time to get information. This forum site is awesome, and the people here are amazing. Real life stories are the most informative!

I was wondering how long some of you had to wait after your referral before you heard from Raleen and Rhoda?
Thanks

Topic: RE: Excess skin
Did anyone see that poor guy on NTV news last night? He lost 200lbs.
and he keeps getting raw sores in the folds of skin. He says MCP
will not cover him to have the skin removed. He even said there isn't
a surgeon in the province that will do it. Then, how funny it happened
that Dr. Joy Cluett was on in the next segment talking about constructing
new breasts for these 2 ladies who had cancer. Jenn were you told that
you would be covered by MCP if you decide to do it?I If they are saying
it's covered as an extention to our surgery. He is not covered because
he lost the weight on his own...I think he said. Which is sad that he is
not getting the help he needs. He said the surgery is $15000.

Topic: RE: Danger Zone! Help!
The statistics show that this surgery will help us lose about 60% of our excess weight. The rest is up to us so hard work and willpower are definintely part of the equation. If you think about it you had 110lbs to your goal. 60% of that would be 66lbs. You have lost 75 up to now so you are above average at 68%. Now the work begins. Like you said you have a great kickstart to motivate you. You can do it Jenn.
