My husband was nervous but knows that I am facing several health issues that can only be reversed by losing weight.  I am not the best at doing this on my own.   We have researched it together and talked about it.  While he is still nervous he is supportive 100%.  I am sure Jon would be happy to chat if he wanted another man's perspective.

Hi Andrea - My husband's first reaction was- no way - but after a serious heart to heart discussion - he realized how strongly I felt it was right for me and since then has been a huge support for me. You said he is going to your appt with you - that's great - he will come around as he learns more about how this will benefit you and yor family. Welcome to the board and good luck!

Hi Andrea: My husband was the same. He is still nervous about complications
in surgery. He has gone to every app. with me. Family doc. & Dr. Pace twice,
he wanted to know all details. He loves me no matter what size I am & if it wasn't
for my bad health because of my weight, he wouldn't want me to have it at all. Any
surgery is a risk but if it will drasticly change your life 100%. I rhink it's all worth it.
Every single person I talk to that had it, does not regret it at all. All the surgeries
Dr. Pace has done so far have been sucessful. My husband has come to terms
with it. Doesn't like me having to go through it but has accepted it.

 hi tina,
thanks for the advice... i called today and it was a good thing because they hadnt recieved my referral. so i got the right numbers and called my doctors office again... rayleene was really nice, the thought of the wait time is really scary though... and i have to lose about fifteen pounds first...  I need to really concentrate on getting myself healthy... wait time or not :)

My husband was against it at first because he was afraid of the risks but once he realized that the risk to my health was bigger if I didn't get it done he came around.  Help him to become as informed as you.  This website is a great tool.  There is also another website www.verticalsleevetalk.com where there is also a wealth of information.  Use your wait time for you both to become as informed as you can.

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself. This is the first time that I have ever been on a forum so just getting the idea of how it all works..lol
I have received my letter to go to the information session on Jan 6. I am so so excited!! But my husband is on the fence. He thinks that it is a drastic procedure to go through and he is afraid of the complications. He is going to go with me so thats a start, but is anyone else's spouse like this?

Yes it should be fine to call.  Raleen and Rhoda are both very friendly and it is perfectly reasonable to call to confirm receipt of your referral.

You should give Raleen a call to make sure they have received it.  Her number is 709-777-2038.  She may also be able to give you some idea as to how long it will be before you get a call to start the process.
