HI there, just joined this group and was wanting to ask you a few questions about your post. You could help me greatly. I have seen Joy Cluett and am on a wait list to get my Breast Reduction done by MCP. I have waited 3 years now and am told it could be another 3 before they get to me on the list. I am really fed up waiting and wi**** done in Ontario. Do you know if MCP will cover my cost if I leave the province? My private helath insurance won't cover anything due to the fact that the procedure can be done here. I KNOW this is medically necessary, my measurements speak for themselves. Did your friends ever try to get some portion covered by MCP? Thanks for listening.

Jackie, do you know how long the wait is now? Did they say anything on how long? When did you get the call for your appointment?
I received my call in August for my appointment on the 24th of this month. My family doc said I should have my surgery in 2012.. (fingers crossed)

Topic: How does all this work??
Hi everyone,

I'm new to this journey. I have my appointment with Dr. Pace on the 24th. However I hear a lot of talk here about meeting with different people before the surgery.

I guess what I'm asking is, could you tell me how your progress has been?
From your family doctor to the surgery. How long did you have to be in the hospital? How long was your recovery? How long before you were able to get back to work?

I know this is a lot of questions, I'm so excited, curious, nervous. and all the above.. I hope someone can share their experiences with me..

How did it go? How long have you been waiting for your appointment?  Is Dr. Boone in NL?

Hi everyone,

The link to the Bariatric Surgery Support Group of NL is http://www.facebook.com/groups/195749753841874/ - you *should* be able to just follow the link and request to be added - I have added a couple of extra administrators, so it shouldn't take too long to be approved.

If you are having any problems, just request to *friend* me on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/jenn.deon) and identify yourself as wanting to join the bariatric surgery support group. Then I can add you easily.

The group is classified as *secret*, which means these groups cannot be found in searches, and non-members can’t see anything about the group, including its name and member list. The name of the group will not display on the profiles (timelines) of members. To join a secret group, you need to be added by a member of the group.

I am just a patient of Dr. Pace's, like the rest of you, and created the group to help us all connect. I am not affiliated with Eastern Health or anything. :)

Don't me to hard on yourself Sherry, you can beat yourself up all day wondering why it so hard to cut back on food when you have overcome a big addiction as smoking, to me in my personal life food was an addiction, i needed it , it made me feel better, whenever you socialize there's always food involved and 9 changes out of 10 with everything put out there might be one veggie try the rest is always pertty fattening, i remember growing up in nfld, the dinners my mother would cook is unbelievable, it makes sense that nflder have the highest colerstral rate per capital in canada, everything is homemade and made with butter,,while it is yummy there are side effect and thus that is why we are here at this point in our lives, i decided to do this just over a year ago, and i am only a few days away from surgery, while i use to urge just drinking that protein shake i kept in my mind , i have to do this, thats it this is my last chance, everything else as failed for me, so i'm gonna suck back this shake and take it like a man..lol.. i wish you all the success and i can tell you want this so bad, so hang in there my friend, i have to ask, does the doctor now handling your file know you were on a waiting list in NB, is there anyway he can push you forward, just a though, either way your getting closer everyday,, msg me if you need any support or words of wisedom , its what i like about these forum boards we are all here for the same reason and all here to support eachother..
