Topic: Post Bariatric Plastic Surgery
I will be having a consultation with a plastic surgeon at the end of February in Toronto. I got price quotes from three surgeons in the U.S.A they estimated the cost for a lower body lift, inner thigh lift, upper body lift and breast augmentation at about $35, 000 - $40,000. Obviously this is a lot of money! I was hoping for some advice on lowering the plastic surgery cost... Is there any government assistance I can apply for or is there anything I can say to the surgeon to help lower the cost? I'm willing to pay the cost with a personal loan but anything that can be done to reduce the crippling debt I'm going to endure will be appreciated. For those who have had post bariatric plastic surgery can you tell me on your search to find your plastic surgeon did you consult the The American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons? - apparently these are the surgeons who specialize in body contouring procedures after massive weight loss. The following website lists all these surgeons (who must also be board certified plastic surgeons to be a member) https://www.asbps.org/media.php I'm thinking (and correct me if I'm wrong) that because these surgeons are specialist their prices must be significantly higher. Please share with me who your surgeon was and what procedures you had done. Also share the amount you paid and if you are happy with the results. Any information you can give will be greatly appreciated. Take Care.

Topic: OT FOR a report in college about healthcare.
Hi my name is dee I am doing a english paper and it has to be on micheal moores movie sicko. In the movie he say the healthcare is awesome in canada. You don't have long waits and you get your healthcare for free. I was wondering how true it was. I have a few questions about that. 1. how long does it take to see a dr. 2. are there any fees. 3. how long for a surgery simple or serious? 4. Do you think it is a good working system? any imput would be so great! thanks again dee

My provincal medical plan approved my surgery this past January, but I am getting sicker day by day..and I afraid I am going to die..before I find a surgeon..who will do this surgery, I don't know where to look for a surgeon..I have a 12 year old child, with cerebral palsy, who needs me..I am only 47..and I really am scared..living where I live..that I am going to die..before I can get the help I need..I am in chronic pain..24 hours a day now..and it is wearing me thin..do anyone know a surgeon..in Canada..who will take in the real sick ones.

Topic: RE: hi new to the site
There are two doctors in Newfoundland qualified to do the surgery..one was doing them..but they stopped her and denied her to do the surgeries here in the province. Her name is Dr. Judith Rodgers in Corner Brook, Newfoundland..The other doctor is in Burin, and is a qualified laproscopic gastric bypass surgeon(Dr.Alex Tryter) trained in Austriala..but they stopped him..before he got started and he had a waiting list ready to go..of 25 patients. Emails to the government did not give me valid answers as to why..stating they did not have the OR time or faculities to do this type of surgery in Newfoundland which..is bull..as one doctor had already done 7 successfully. The do stomach removal..and stapling for cancer patients, they do breat reduction surgery and even tummy tucks..so there answers were not correct..and nothing short of people demonstrating..will change it ..I believe..my quote if I were a cod fish..someone would be dancing around the confederation building demanding change..unfortunately, I am to far away from the confederation building..to do it. I am a long time with approval..and waiting to go on the waiting list..since insurance approval ..since this past January, for the same doctor.. I do hope..that you have some success with this..as I all to understand...the for me and for my family part of it..kind regards, Joanne

Topic: RE: Any Newfies !!!
Hey Cheryl.... WOW I cant believe someone actually responded to my post ...yipeee...I was banded in Nov 06 and am down 80 lbs ... feeling great but still facing challenges everyday .... Its not easy thats for sure and Me being the impatient being i am cant seem to lose the weight fast enough .... I've hit a plateau I've been fluctuating losing and gaining the same 7 pounds for about 6 weeks now ... I have restriction after 5 fills (9ccs in my band)but I often find myself eating the wrong foods Junk basically ! Its a funny thing that the only food that slips right through is the chocolate, chips and cake ... All of which I love !! so its been hard and I have been failing miserably the last week , I've really lost control so I'm a little frustrated to say the least !.... anyway soorrry to ramble but sometimes it just helps to vent ... So whats the deal with you I very rarely hear of someone coming TO newfoundland , what brings you farther east ?? and How are you feeling being newly banded and all ?? its quite an experience , I remember the fist month I was convinced I had no band at all and they just took my money !! please keep me updated and keep in touch I'm so anxious to meet fellow bandsters but living here I havent had any success .... take care Vicki
