Topic: RE: Anyone who has successfully gotten surgery approval in NL?
I was approved right away from MCP. My doc faxed a letter to Blair Flemming at MCP. He gave me aproval almost 2 years ago. I am still trying to get on a list. The surgery is still suppose to be available in this province. It was suppose to start this month. But I still haven't gotton a list as yet. Still trying. Last time I talked to Dr. Pace 's office she told me they haven't got all the stuff set up yet. and they haven"t got all the i's dotted and t crossed.

Dr. Pace is trying to start up the Gastric bypass surgery in Newfoundland. I heard that it would start in Jan. 2011 but I have not heard anything since . I have been calling his office , I am waiting to be put on his list. I was pre-apprved by MCP to have the surgery in Ont. but because of their long waiting lists they are not taking patience from out of the province at the moment. The waiting list in N.B. is 5 years. It's so frustrating... I have been trying for almost 2 years now to just get put on a list.

I have also been trying to find out about the surgery starting up in Newfoundland. I was told that things would be setup and ready to go by Jan. 2011. I phoned in last week and again yesterday but I only get a recorded message. I understand there are 2 doctors starting up the program.

Hi there! Good to hear you are on your way. Is is Dr. Beausoleil in Moncton who you will be seeing? Feel free to read my profile and blog - the good, the bad and the ugly. It was appros 3 yrs from the time my consult was sent to Dr. B. until the date of my surgery. A long wait - but well worth it in the end. Take care! Feel free to meaasge me with any questions!

Topic: Got my referral
I went to see my family doctor last week and he sent a referral to NB for gastric bypass. I can't describe how I'm feeling right now...kind of a odd mix between excitement and nerves mixed with a million questions.

I've read it takes up to two years to just get the consultation and i find that a little discouraging...it doesn't help that patience isn't my most dominant virtue. lol Wells here hoping for the best!
