My husband and I want to do the VSG at the same time...

My husband and I are considering travelling to Mexico to do the vsg together. We have two girls, a 3 year old and a 5 month old. What is the recovery time like? Anyone here have the vsg that has young children at home? I'm a little worried about the both of us recovering at the same time when we have kids to take care of...

I'm a grandmother, originally from NL, now in Ottawa....and I had VSG in Mexico. I went to Puerto Vallarta to Dr. Castaneda Cruz. Can't say enough good about him!! I had surgery on a Saturday, came home on Thursday and returned to work on the following Monday. I'm an RN. If you travel together, you will need someone to manage your luggage etc. as you can't do any lifting post op. As well, with little children you will need some help at home for the first few weeks as again, you won't be able to do any lifting. Have you considered a company that will escort you (byyoursideweightlosstravel.com comes to mind)? In terms of the decision for surgery, it was the best thing I ever did for myself and I wish I had done it when my children were small. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. My husband has decided that he does not want to go forward with the surgery, but is still 100% supportive of my decision to go ahead with it. So now he can come with me to take care of me I think I'll be going with either dr. Kelly or dr. Garcia/ dr. Venezuela in Tijuana. I'm aiming for the end of may... I really can't believe that I'm going to do this...! I'm SO excited ...and nervous .

I, too, am planning a VSG with Dr. Kelly in mid-May. Have you done any counselling? I am very nervous about being ready emotionally for the long journey after the surgery.

I am from mount pearl and am seriously considering the sleeve in early spring,just wondering about logistics would it be better to fly right to Tijuana or go to San Diego what's your plans....are you paying through hospital or some Canadian concern.its a tough decision ....
