first referral

 hi everyone,
this forum has been very helpful to me. I was just wondering if someone could help me out... my dr. has referred me to dr. pace and i was just wondering if anyone could shed any light on the process from here on in. Does it take long after the first referral before you hear back from their office... do they call and get info or anything, or do they get it all from your family doctor. Im not sure who to ask all these questions to because my doctor didnt have many answers to give me either. thank you in advance for your help...

Hi Amanda, 

The link above takes you to my blog post that describes the process as I understand it.   I am still waiting for surgery too!   I am using my time to try to lose some weight before surgery- the lower your BMI the lower the risk.

 I would also suspect that Raleen, the nurse practioner, will be in touch in the near future.  She has been trying to ouch base with new referrals as fast as she is able.

Hi Amanda: It all depends on your BMI. If it's over 50. you have a bit
of a wait. Dr. P is doing lowers BMI right now.

so if the bmi is higher than fifty do they give you the opportunity to bring it down and then see what happens?

 Yes Mandy you can do that.   It is what I am working on.  I have kept Raleen in the loop as I lowered my BMI from 52.7 to a 46.7 now...  Go for it and we are here to support you!
