Starting to worry a little....
I've just spend the last couple of hours looking through before and after pictures and a bunch of people's profiles.
I've noticed that quite a few people show signs of hair loss. My hair isn't that thick to begin with so I'm really starting to worry that its going to thin out more. I know protein is a key to keeping hair loss at bay, but will it be enough?
This may sound vain, but one benefit of this surgery is to make me look better, not worse. Losing my hair would be horrible.
As well, I've lost almost 20lbs since coming home from the hospital and I'm so happy about that, but I'm losing weight from the head down. I've noticed my face is smaller, the tendons in my neck are more noticable, and my collar bones are starting to peak through. And now my boobs are getting smaller. Already some of my bras are too big (I've remidied that with some extra padding for now). I'm worried that I'm going to be left flat chested and big-assed. lol

WOW!! 20 lbs in 12 days! That's Amazing! Protein is the only thing I have heard of to help with hair loss. But you know what? Its only hair and its only temporary. If some falls out its a small price to pay for reaching a goal you have wanted for most of your life. Make sure you get your protein and deal with what comes.
Your boobs are bound to get smaller along with the rest of you. You'll notice as you buy smaller bras that cup sizes are not all equal. A C cup in an 38 is smaller than a C cup in a 42. You will need smaller bras soon but you may not go down is cup sizes unless you wear a rather large cup size now. Would you really want to lose a ton of weight and keep your boobs the same size they are now? I would think you would look rather out of proportion if they didn't shrink with you.
At least you are young and have a must better chance of your skin shrinking with you. Many of the rest of us may not be so lucky. Even if it dosen't quite shrink quite as fast as you do, it should catch up within a few months.
Best of luck to you,
Tina

Hi Jane: Hair loss is one of my worries too. I haven't had surgery yet and my hair falls
out now like crazy. I take handfulls of hair out of my brush daily. When I wash my hair
I take at least 3 handfulls of hair out of my brush while I am drying it. I don't understand
why I'm not bald already. I've heard there is a vitamin for hair too isn't there? I don't
know which one. I'm hoping someone reading might know. Maybe we could take in
addition to everything else. I am going to try and google it and see if I can find out.
Congrats on the weight loss. I am hoping to join the losers bench soon.

Some are more prone to hair loss than others, so one doesn't know what will take place after surgery until you are there.
Surgery alone makes one lose hair, not to mention stress.Trimming your hair every 3 month helps. A big one is problems with the thyroid. Before the doc put me on synthroid, my hair could come out big time in brushing, I thought it was stress alone, but I imagine twas both. Once on synthroid it stopped. I must say though I still have times when my hair comes out more.
I guess if I am one to lose hair after WLS I guess it will be. I know it will grow back.
Biotin is what helps hair growth and can be found in some food but the concentration is low. I have Biotin in my multivitamin.
