 Hi Everyone

I just found this site tonight.  And happy I did.  I have been battling my weight for as long as I can remember and I have to absolutely lose weight for health reasons.     I have just started investigating surgery - I do good on diets for a while but then collapse.   I find it difficult - i do well at first and I have support but then it goes out the window.   My husband who is a man of size as well - does not want to lose weight.  Which I dont mind but he becomes very discouraging as I become successful.  And unsupportive, then I go to the Self-pity mode and eat to comfort myself and the diet is out the window.  However, over the last few months I have come to realize that I am in control of me.   I decide what to eat, when to eat.  No one forces me.   If things are bothering me...I need to turn to other comforts - a walk, a girlfriend, a long bath.  I have learned that I use how other people make feel as an excuse to eat.

I am ready to stop and o something to save my health.  I am just learning and reading now.   Until tonight I did not know that Dr. Pace was doing this...I thought you still had to go away.
Thank to you all for sharing and I hope to get to know some of you over time.

Hi TRD: Welcome to the site. Everyone here is awesome and very helpful.
If you are serious about losing and make up your mind. Have your doctor
fax a referal in to Dr. Pace as soon as possible because from what we are
hearing the list is growing fast. He only does 2 of these surgeries a week.
I'm hoping to get mine before the new year. You don't need pre-approval from
MCP, it is covered with Dr. Pace. I had my 1st. consult with Dr. Pace
in June. He is very nice. I hope if you decide to do this for your health that your
hubby can support you in your decision. My husband loves me no matter what
size I am and he was nervous about me having surgery at first and he didn't
want me to have it. But, he knows now that I can't live like this any more. My
health gets worse everyday. So, he now supports it and is with me all the way.
He is still nervous and afraid something will happen during surgery but thats
the risk we all take.

I hate to say this and I am no expert but it sounds like your husband is trying to sabatoge your weight loss.  He may not even realize he is doing this.  You said he is not interested in losing weight.  He may be afraid of losing you if you do lose the weight.  Reasure your husband that you love him no matter what and that it doesn't matter what size you are or what size he is you aren't going anywhere.  Maybe then he will be more supportive of your efforts.
