Hi Everyone: I'm so frustrated right now !!!! Grrrrrr. I am trying to lose
30 lbs. for Dr. Pace , he wants my BMI down to 60 for my surgery it was 61
at my appointment in June. I have celulitis in my feet and legs. I am so
full of fluid , at times I can't walk my ankles are so tight. Trying to lose weight
when you have fluid is almost impossible. That's why I need the surgery.
Anyone have ideas to help. I heard that asparagus & pineapple are great
natural dieretics. So, I've been taking them. and that's what has helped
me so far but now I'm at a stand still. Where my weight is down one day
and back up on the next. I can go down 5 lbs. and when I check the scale
again 3-4 days later I'm up 6-7 ibs. a losing battle. I want this surgery so
much, what can I do???

Oh Terrie, I feel for you! How about sending an email to Rhoda the dietician? I think her email is [email protected].

My only knowledge about fluid retention is that we just have to super-charge our water consumption (1 litre x each 50 lbs you weigh per day) and decrease our caffiene and sodium so stuff actually gets flushed through our systems.

Don't lose faith - it is a slow road.

I don't have any salt that is not already in something Jenn. I even noticed that
a bottle of Nestle water (plain) I was drinking had 9mg of salt in it. It is so nice
to get on the scale and see the ibs. gone and then I get back on a few days later
and it's back. I've lost this same 10 ibs. 3-4 times now.

Hi Jenn, I took your advice and emailed Rhoda. she emailed me back
and asked for my number. She is going to call me when she gets the chance.
I haven't heard from her yet. Thanks Jenn.

 Hi Jenn,

Make sure you are not eating processed or canned foods.   That is where the greatest majority of the salt in our diets comes from...  You may think you are not eating much but it is in everything you buy.

Thanks Trina. I have been eating tuna a lot. I love tuna salad and sandwiches.
I haven't thought about checking the can for salt. I buy it in water. But, I bet there
is a lot of salt in it. Just because it was in the ocean.

 Hi Terri,

The salt actually comes from the processing...I think the average can of Tuna has about 300mg of salt- often more.  But there are Tuna packed in water without salt.   Even canned tomatoes, sauces, frozen foods all have tons of hidden salt.

I have become good at cooking on the weekends and freezing for the week and I have notice a difference in the amount of water I retain.   It takes some advance plannnig but it is really nice to get home after work and know that supper is ready.   Now I am guilty of a a frozen pizza  or some wings from time to time.  But I really try to stay away from processed foods.    And those little frozen dinners are the worst!!!!!!!!

And if you are retaing a lot of fluid and your diuretic is not working, please go back to see your Doctor and let him/her know....

Ohh he knows (doc) I've had this problem for 20 yrs. but it has gotten worse in the last 5.
I've developed Cellulitus. It's been an on going battle for some time now. At one time, I
was taking 5 different diretics at one time. Helped for a while but know body can tell me
what causing it. I am hoping losing the weight will help a little .
