Hi Everyone
Today I could just stay in bed and cry ...I know I need to stay positive but it's so hard...I've started diet number 100 I think prob is more like 200 but let's just say that. I feel like I'll never get the surgery been on the list for 5 years ....when will this end?? I'm on a 1200 calorie diet  Starving pretty much and I might be lucky to loose 1 lb a week so with that said...it would take me  2 years to loose my weight...I had so much hope for surgery with Dr pace but the more I read on here the more discouraged I get...I have put in a new referal and have done everything I know to do....I can't exercise due to my much needed hip surgery that my specials wont do until my weight is off and also I need a bone transplant on top of it all...arrrggg...reading this just made me more depressed...I've checked into paying for the surgery myself here in Canada but its way too expensive, I'm wondering now If I should take the risk and have it done in Mexico...I'm so desperate :(

There so much conflicting information going around right now no one can really tell when they will get an appointment.  Get another referral in and then call again and start asking questions.  Don't give up.  Your time will come.

Way too much conflicting information is right, but who is right?? I figure there is prob 100's of people like me in the same situation and are also very depressed over the whole situation. I just want this all to come to an end and start my way to a healthier me....I know I can diet but I always fail, I just need this tool to help me reach my goal like everyone else....I'm hoping to have a better day tomorrow. Thanks for the couragement Lord knows I need it....lol

As hard as it is - stay positive and keep your chin up. Make sure your new referral ended up where it should be - I don't have the phone numbers to Dr. Pace's office - but someone here should. Do follow up to his office with calling - it can never hurt. As for going out of Canada and self paying for surgery - the only personal experience I have with that - is that I personally know 4 people who have gone to Dr. Joya in Mexico. All had good experiences and good outcome. Not that weight loss surgery is without risks. I think you have to weigh the pros and cons of self paying versus waiting - it's a difficult decision that only you can make. Good luck to you!

Thanks Mary, I'm going to do a bit of research on Dr Joya and see how much It would cost me...I'm to the point where I was told you can't get your hip replacement/ bone transplant until your weight is off and my quality of life is now gone so I'm going to wait another month and if no call I guess I have to do what is good for me....If I could wait I would, but not being able to walk 5 feet with all the pain is not good. I had 13 surgery's in order to walk back when I was in an accident when I was 11 and now for the past 8 years have been in the same boat ...its just very frustrating to say the least.....Thanks again Mary....Carrie

Hey Beatle we all have these days, you are not the only one !!! Tina and I can tell
you how frustrated we were. We started taking turns calling Janice to see what we
could find out. We were going crazy. Just to get some little bit of info out of her. LOL
She is a very nice person but a rock with info.Couldn't find out if we were on a list.
When you finally get your call you will be so happy , and all the feelings you have now
will fly right out the window. When she said Terrie I have your appointment I said ohhhh,
Thank you , thank you....and she laughed at me. My head just danced. So, you just
hang in there and your day will be here before you know it.

Dr. Pace number 777-6558

P.S. I called Janice every two weeks for 4 months before she would even let me
send in a referral. Blair Flemming at MCP told me Dr. Pace was setting this up
but she would take a referral until that one day in Jan.when she finally said yes,
have your doc send it in. I was so happy that day. Then the next battle getting
I was talking about above. Getting on the list. We have survived it Beatle and
so will you.

Hi Guys, Thanks for the couragement.....I have been calling and so has my family DR ever since last July when my specialist Dr Martin who is also the chief of surgery for HSC put a referal to him and I had my DR put one in Oct and also one in this past March....I call and the same thing as everyone else no apt yet....I just have to make a decision as to how long I can wait and pay for this myself if all else fails....I feel like 5 years ago I started this journey and saw Dr Pace and looks like my journey even with his partner giving him a referal Im not getting nowhere...If I could get an answer as to yes you will get an apt this year or no you will not....my decission will be easy...I'll be taking a nice warm trip to Mexico...lol or staying here on the rock. If I were just in need of loosing weight I could keep waiting but Im now not able to walk from my bedroom to kitchen without crutches, walker and sometimes I just hang on to the walls...lol .I need a very large surgery as I said before and my Dr will not operate until my weight is down.....I just need my life back....I started swimming cause Its good for people with bone problems and Im on a very low calorie diet trying to help myself once again but as we all know... Its not easy but I have to keep trying....Do you live in St John's....Im looking to meet a few friends here that are in the same boat.   Thanks for listening...Carrie

Carrie, I am in St. John's, and while I'm not in the same boat, I am definitely travelling on the same river - just a little further downstream! :)

I have been seriously thinking about starting an informal support group here, but in the meantime, I could come over and visit you for a cup of tea? Or if you want a swimming buddy?

Feel free to message me here or email me directly at [email protected].
