Hi Guys, My name is Carrie and I've been on the waiting list for 5 years. I found out last July that Dr Pace would be starting weight loss surgeries in 2011 from my orthopedic surgeon Dr Martin who is Dr paces partner in the weight loss program.....I need a hip replacement and a bone transplant and cannot have either until I have my weight down due to complications and difficulties my surgeon will have operating on someone large as myself....I'm now pretty much in a wheelchair and have no quality of life, very depressing waiting for this surgery to happen. I like you terry have put in a new referral and from what I understand is that there are 50 people ahead of me...I'm very thank full that Dr Pace is now able to do surgeries but the waiting is so frustrating to say the least. I'm happy there is a place to write down our feelings and make new friends with the same interest and goals.
Welcome Carrie. I've been on WLS message boards for about about 4 years now but its good to be able to talk to people here in our home province who are going through and looking for the same thing. My first appointment is June 16 which I am so thankfulful for but at the same time suprised as I was hoping for this fall. I think he is doing some less complicated cases first. I'm going for Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy which is a much easier surgery than Gastric Bypass and although I have weight related issues that affect my work and my lifestyle, there is nothing that could affect the outcome of the surgery and the recovery process. From what I've read he will be doing about 100 per year so hopefully you will get your appointment soon.

Hi Carrie and Welcome to the forum, I know how frustrated you are. I've been sleeping in my livingroom chair for almost 2 years. When I lay down I feel like I'm choking. and I get a gurgaling in the base of my throat. I also have Cellulitous in both my legs. in fact I have to go to the wound care clinic today to have them wrapped in Compression bandages again. I don't mind waiting my turn like everyone else but (NO OFFENSE TO YOU TINA) when you hear that Janice is giving people appointments who sent in their referral's after you. It makes you wonder what she is doing. Good Luck with all of your surgeries. Terrie Has anyone heard anything about Jenn?

I was wondering if anyone from here is in the St John's area? I would love to have someone to go swimming with, Im living here on the east coast until Nov 1st due to my husbands job. Swimming is the only excercise I can get with being so immobile.
