Any Newfies !!!

 hey my profile name is frozenbeauty and i signed up today...i have not figured out how to really navigate the site but ill keep trying....Im on here to meet others  like myself and hope find here some positive stories and supportive people....well what my deal is this...i have a consultaion this month on the 29th to see about gastris bypass surgery...i have battled the thought for 6 years on weather or not i should do it..i heard soooo many horrible stories about people dying...i lost my mother when i was 6 years old and i hate for  my 5 year old and would NEVER want him to edure my pain...let me know what your deal is

Hi My name is Janet and I am originally from St John's but am living in Fl. I left Nf in 1993 to work as a RN and met my DH got married had kids and here i am just outside Orlando. My insurance is paying for  a lapband. I am approved but with the holidays it will be Dec 28 before I can get my date set in stone.Like alot of you I have been over weight my whole life struggled with so many diets and I took about 2 years to decide on surgery. I am nervous and a little scared but looking forward to putting myself first for a change.

I am also a fellow newfoundlander.......been living in Ottawa for over 8 years!  I just had my consult with Dr. Fitzer on April 16......my surgery is scheduled for July 29.....I tooo cannot wait...and wi**** was tommorrow!!!

Another Newfie here!! I'm from Mount Pearl/St. John's but I've been living in the States for 4 years now. Married an Army man.

I can't believe you still can't get this surgery in Newfoundland!!! What a bunch of BS! My Mother desperately needs the surgery and can't take the time off to go to the mainland and get it.

I'm hoping to have my Surgery performed before the fall... and have most of my weight gone by the time I go home again in August of 2010.

 

 i am from Hampden, White Bay. it is near Deer Lake, and is on the other side of the Northern Pen. I am living in Brampton, Ontario. Had my surgery on November 25th, 2008 in Ypsilanti Michigan. Dr. poplawski was my surgeon. lost close to 80 pounds, but been on a stall now for 2 months or more. i am not getting the right amount of protein in as i am prone to kidney stones. i actualy eneded up in the hospital a month after surgery, and got out on Christmas Day..bummer eh...lol lol lol

I am in Labrador.
I had a baby recently and has had the extra weight every since.I am 5ft 1 and right now I weigh 171lbs. Before I was pregnant I was always around 125-130lbs. I can't seem to lose the weight. I've tried all kinds of exercises but they just don't seem to work. It is starting to get frustrating with summer on its way and me feel all "fat" and "gross". Is there any other way to get the weight gone fast, without surgery? I have high blood pressure as a reslt of all the extra weight.
