Another set back
Hi all. Just wanted to update you on the progress???? of my surgery. Tomorrow will be one month since my lap RNY. So far, I have sprained my back from doing too much too soon (my fault). Now, it seems I have an infection way down deep in my stomach under the one in*****ision on the left side of my stomach. There had been a lump there for almost two weeks and it wasn't getting any softer or going away. The incision itself was scabbing over but every time I bent over slightly, it would leak. I called the office and they got me in to see the surgeon. Turns out, he had to drain fluid from the "lump" which was infected. He said the infection was way down deep and he drained about 1/4 cup of icky looking fluid. Next, he had to pack the site to allow it to drain completely. So, now I am back on antibiotics and pain meds. I was so scared when he said the word "infection", but believe me, I will call that office at the first sign of something not right. So, now I have a huge bandage over the site which IS draining, yuk. It's just very discouraging because at one month with a lap procedure, I should be up and about pretty good and I'm struggling to just get around. If anyone else had this happen, please share with me, or if you have heard of this happening. The surgeon said he hasn't seen something like this for a long time, and it contributes it to the fact that a piece of the instrument broke off inside me during surgery and they had to mess around inside there for a longer period of time. What??????? That so? Talk to ya'll later. Kathy
