Diane, How are you feeling?  I hope that all is well and that you become a big loser real soon! LOL!!  I am so happy for you. I went for my consult on Friday and really liked Dr. JB and his staff.  I was told by the nurse that he charges a program fee of $1850.00 and when I asked what it was for I was told that most doctors are charging a fee now and that Dr. Mehta is charging $4500. and others evenmore! at that point I figured I would ask Dr. JB what it was for when I met with him but I totally forgot.  I did however ask him about a payment plan and he said that he is not concerned about the fee but that he is more concerned with getting me healthy again.  I figured I will send the nurse an email asking.   I did sign up for Dr. Bertha's seminar at St. Peters on July 12th, but I am not sure that I am going to go, although it wont hurt.  I also really like the idea that Dr. JB is so close to home.  I went to the last support group meeting, were you there? Jackie, I didn't make it to the last meeting, I had to go to a HS graduation.  JB's office told me the same thing about Mehta charging $4500, but that still doesn't answer what are you getting for your $1850!  And you must pay 1/2 the fee prior to surgery or it's a no-go.  I am happy that I'm close to home but if I had known about the fee I would not have gone to him, I think I would have chosen Dr. Brolin or even gone to St. Barnabas with Nusbaum, they both have excellent records with surgery.  Brolin is phenomenal, he trained 1/2 the drs. in NJ (Mehta being one of them).  My cousin had surgery 10 yrs ago w/Brolin and Mehta assisted bcz he was being trained. Good luck with your decision and let me know where you land up.  I am feeling great and it will be only 1 week tomorrow.  I am definitely missing the eating factor (just chewing and tasting different tastes) but each day is a little easier, I'll be glad to get off liquid diet this week.  I have my post op follow up on Thursday so that will be exciting for me.  I'll be sure to post my loss to keep everyone encouraged.  Best wishes to you.

Dr JB's fees are decieving. My insurance company was floored to find out that I paid $2,250 in full hard cash, when I was already covered 100% by my insurance company. Dr. JB is refusing to refund my money for his services that I was unaware of. I am no longer his patient, my insurance company has paid him, and they are now contacting him.
