I just called BCBS and they told me my surgery is approved for August 31'st! OMG--I am so excited and feel sick to my stomach at the same time I just didn't KNOW for sure that I would be getting it this summer, now it's so real A round of applause to BCBS I want to jump out of my skin for joy, and at the same time, from my nerves! So happy in Brick~ Michelle Brennan

THANKS so much for everyone's responses... it's so encouraging to be encouraged! lol.. anyway, I will see you at next Friday's support group meeting.. I wouldn't miss it for the world! Now that I KNOW I am going to be a WLS member, I am more excited than ever to attend. This is really happening, it's still sinking in! I have Horizon BCBS insurance and I saw a blimp on the beach, floating over head, this morning... a HORIZON blimp, and I bowed to it! I am so happy with my insurance company right now.... I am so happy I was bowing to a blimp! Now, THAT my friends, is happy!!! They could have made this difficult for me and they aren't. God is sooooo good to me! Godspeed to all of us, no matter what process of the journey we are in. Michelle Brennan Brick, NJ

Pat~ So good to see you finally decided to join us here The group this coming Friday night, July 7, is at Community Medical Center from 7-9pm in Auditorium A, right behind the main entrance desk, just ask someone at the desk to point you in the direction. It's a great group and I am looking forward to meeting you. I haven't heard anything about the $15K upfront that Hackensack University Medical Center wants? I haven't heard that from anyone that has had their surgery there either, so maybe it depends on your insurance? I just got the approval letter from Dr. Trivedi's in the mail today and it gives me all the copays for the surgery. It says BCBS requires me to pay: Surgeons Fee: not filled in for some reason? Deductible for surgeons fee: 0 Co Insurance: 0 Co Payment: 0 Amount Insurance will pay: 100% It all looks good to me, but I will call and see about the hospital fee, I haven't read anything, anywhere about that, and that's a huge amount for someone to not mention. There are 2 sisters at the Toms River group that used Dr. Trivedi, so I can also ask them Friday night if they had to pay the hospital that much. I think my co-pay is $250 per day for the hospital stay, I will have to read my manual. See you Friday night, we will have a lot of our questions answered then, by people who have walked before us Michelle

Pat- I just re-read your post and I forgot to answer the question about group in Hackensack. Yes, I did go to that support group, it's actually just a "pre surgical" informational session, like a teaching class. It's required with BCBS, they charge $50 for it, and they don't tell you anything you won't already hear at the Toms River group (for free) but it is required. It's just a one time thing, you don't have to go to the post surgical support group there. Michelle

Michelle have you been told that Hackensack Hospital wants 15000.00 up front for the surgery? I am hoping that is not true. I was reading someones story and that is what they said. Please find out if that is true or not. The person had WLS done in 2003. Pat Carros
