I do not know San Antonio at all, but I traveled alone last summer for the first time to Minneapolis. It was very empowering and you will be just fine. Check your bag, it is not fun trying to navigate the bathroom, the food line, etc, while keeping a hold of your luggage.

I am not sure what the requirements are for that program, but I know with the Portsmouth program the go on your BMI and health reasons for the surgery.  Take a deep breath and don't give up.  You may have to lose more weight, I am not sure how  they judge that.  Take it one step at a time and you will get there when you are supposed to.  Keep up the great work, and know any weight you lose before the surgery makes it that much better for you.  Welcome

I can't talk long but I want you to know CMC is the best and so very caring. Jackie will explain everything at your info meeting. I had surgery almost two years ago. Dr Catania is my surgeon. I believe they say it takes about 6 month to get everything done. If you have more question please don't hesitate to ask. Denise

I finally made the decision to go through with WLS. I have a gym membership, i've been following a licensed dietician for well over a year now and i have lost 61lbs on my own but now i am yo-yoing and getting diagnosed witIh new medical conditions related to my weight like sleep apnea. Also i have hypothyroidism. I am only 28 years old and have 2 young kids i want to be around for. I just long to be healthy again. My highest weight was 401 and i am 342 now i have lots of required qualifications for this surgery. I am going through CMC in manchester and thinking i want connie campbell as my surgeon. I've obviously had my sleep stuidies as well so i feel like i am already past half way there unless of course they make me lose more weight, and see another dietician for another 6 months. I think all i have left is the ekg, stress test, and psychological exam. I had a lot of recent metabolic panels as well.

I have my informational meeting on oct 4th i believe it is. I already contacted my insurance and know what the qualifications are which i basically think i already met. How long from the informational meetings do you get your meetings with the exercise dr, and nutritionist andt then the surgeon? I've been doing cpap therapy and i am compliant now for a month i know they say at least 2-3 months but after all the appts, etc i am sure i will meet this as well. Any information as far as how long out i am looking at, etc"?? Thanks.

Topic: Announcing Forum Upgrades!

Its been over six years since we've launched our forums. During this time it has seen thousands of fresh faces, greetings, meetings, partings, arguments, kind words, life transformations, cathartic rants, and simply happy time pass. It has been with us throughout this time, silently observing and facilitating. But like any wise old man, its bones were getting old. Its joints were aching, and it has been needing a new jolt of energy.

A Mobile World
Did you know that over 30% of you visit our website using a mobile device? For those who do visit us via mobile, we owe you a sincere apology, because our forums have been horrendous on a mobile browser. But the big news is that things are about to change! Our new forums are completely mobile friendly and compatible with iPhone, Android, and pretty much any other modern smart phone.

Each post, topic, and forum shows up beautifully, with the full set of features, and in nice large font. See the screenshots for yourself.

You dont have do anything different, just browse to the forums like you normally would. This means that you can finally put these away:

Not Just for Mobile
The interface on your desktop browser has also been cleaned up a great deal. There is now less clutter on the page, and the overall experience is a lot cleaner. Check out some more screenshots here!

You will notice that each post no longer has 400 buttons below it. Only the buttons that are relevant to each post show up, making your screen space a lot less cluttered. Also, when you reply to another person's post, the entire post is indented inside, making it a lot easier to figure out who has replied to whom.

Launching soon! Maybe as early as next week! Maybe.
And do remember that this is not in any way a be-all-end-all when it comes to the forums. We are in the process of constantly learning and improving upon what we have, and this is just one step along the way.

Stay tuned for the changes! We look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

Topic: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!
Hello Members,

On a daily basis we get calls from members in desperate need of surgeons that will accept Medicaid and or Medicare for Bariatric surgery.  It breaks our hearts when we have to say "we don't know of any surgeons in your state we can refer you to".

Can you please help us? If you know of any surgeons in your state that accepts Medicaid and or Medicare, will you list their:

Name

If they accept Medicare and or Medicaid

Phone number

Facility

Address

This list will remain here for our members to access and use.

Thank you so much!!!

Topic: RE: Feedback on CMC?

Hi there! My husband and I have been a part of the CMC Obesity Treatment Center since April. We have just gotten our surgery dates. Mine is Oct. 2 and his is Oct. 30. Our sureon is Dr. Connie Campbell. She came very highly reccomended!!
The program is very very intense. There is no wiggle room for missed appointments (and there are a LOT of them) and any sign that you are not commited you will be asked to leave the program. It is amazing the support that is there, but you have to follow the guidlines to the letter.......and they are STRICT. From April 2 (our information session****il now we have had 8 appointments each with the center (dietician, exercise physiology- they put you on an exercise regimen-,and weight checks). NOT COUNTING the other things they require............. support group meetings (2 before surgery) lifestyle changes classes (6 weekly classes, you have to pay for, none can be missed or you will have to make them up), phsyical, lab work, EKG, Sleep Study (yes.......EVERYONE in the program needs to get one), a complete psychological evaluation. Then you have the consult wtih the surgeon (when you have reached your goal weight........oh yes.....you are required to lose usually 8% of your body weight that you weigh in at to make sure you will comply with the program and eating after surgery) and all the pre-op labs, anesthesia appts and the appointments AFTER surgery. I just booked 8 (yes EIGHT) appointments for my husband and myself for our pre-op stuff and all check ins with OTC after surgery. You have quite a bit of follow up.........2 weeks, 4 weeks, 2 months, 3 months (all with dietician and 3 month you see exercise physiologist again) then I believe it is 6 months and one year. Most of those appointments will also require lab work too. WHEEW!!!!!! A LOT isn't it??????? Yes .............you have to be amazingly commited to this program. It is TOUGH.....but there is a reason for it. Feel free to write back and ask any questions you may have!!
